the Great Gold Wyrm - mlichtenstein/13thAgeSK GitHub Wiki

More ancient than the other icons, and more benevolent than most.

The merest touch of the Wyrm's fiery breath can unmake a terrible demon, or make a knight in shining armor. (Regardless of whether they expected it, or anyone is going to be jealous over it.) This is a recent development of practice, and its colocation with the Shattered Pillar pertains to the outstanding (future) service of many tieflings to their communities.

The Three have long opposed the Gold. They are to be pitied, having fallen to the corruption of the Living Dungeons in which they dwell. [they've always been like this -ed.]

Religion

Bards theorize that the Wyrm possesses a hoard of grief, which is overflowing. Quite against his nature, he has decided that he has enough already, and aims to stem the influx.

Tragedians theorize that the Wyrm in fact hoards joygrief (i.e. saudade, tears and triumph, bittersweet tribulations). Because he disdains pure grief, he is compelled to provide hope spots wherever necessary; to help, but only just enough. (Pure joy, of course, is tempered sufficiently by experience.)

Idealists contend that this position is deeply ungrateful, and it would be best to assume the Wyrm is doing all he can.
