Icons - mlichtenstein/13thAgeSK GitHub Wiki

Icons are powerful figures who reshaped the world, whether today or in ages past. Most are associated with Factions that carry out their will, more or less.

Many icons have been different people at different times, or depending who you ask. Yet most factions do reflect their respective icons, and probably don't require their own pages.

Various Emperors, the incarnations of mortal power to reshape reality:

  • The First Emperor, a great liberator from ancient times, whose successors did a big oppression and also broke the world.
  • The Emperor-in-Exile, who inherits a divine mandate, various super-weapons to be used in its fulfillment, and a devoted cult to explain what went wrong with each one last time.
  • The Orc Lord, an seasoned leader selected by quorum. This quorum has chosen war, to uproot barbarism from the northern lands of gods and dragons.

Draconic leaders, the raw incarnations of arcane power:

  • There has only ever been one Great Gold Wyrm. It's as if no one else wants the job.
  • The Three were once the Five. Each fears the other Two, and so they all cooperate.

Incarnations of the Archivist (an obscure icon), who preserves what must not be forgotten:

  • The Dwarf King, thirteenth of his name, who continues to press the kingdom's claim to most surface artifacts, weapons, and further instances derived from their intellectual property.
  • The Prince of Shadows, who notoriously redistributes things to the people who value them most highly.
  • [The Wizard King]], who did not survive the [first age, beginning a long and ongoing decline. As the Lich King, his malice is rarely productive (exceptional historical moments are parenthesized), but his lackeys are many and eager to please.
  • [The Antearchivist]], who preserves what must be forgotten, who is thought not to have survived to the [first age.

Incarnations of the Archon, who reaps the harvest (sometimes known as the High Druid):

  • The Elf Queen, a fair and just lady whose benevolence is simply unquestionable. Widely considered a greener alternative to the Priestess, with a smaller territory but more invested power base.
  • The Diabolist, who truly enjoys the pride before a fall, and general lament. Generally suffers an oversupply of cultists, ergo the whole idea of a promotion system based on murder.
  • The Broken One, who arose from the memories of monsters, or the monsters of memory. Did your ancestors do bad things? It resents you for that.

Incarnations of the Dreamer, who creates truth what cannot be known:

  • Nothing, as there are no known incarnations of the Dreamer, who is defined by her creation of the unknowable.
  • Everything, as there are aspects of each thing that cannot be known, which are each manifestations of the Dreamer.
  • O, who lives in solitude in the Quincunx, whose undisturbed sleep allows for the continued existence of unknowable truths.
