Age of Screaming Ghosts - mlichtenstein/13thAgeSK GitHub Wiki
The Ancient Ghosts began to fade from memory because they had lost sight of their mission, dispersing memories from the catastrophes that had gone by. She Who Remembers Ash-Dark Skies, Giants That Live in the Earth, Dwarves That Chained Monsters, and other lingering memories of past Ages simply disintegrated.
The Splinter Kingdom took in Tiefling refugees, requiring only their vow to lead the charge against the kingdom's enemies, and reckless magic anywhere. Amongst all the Splinter Kingdom's magic-hunting inquisitors, the Tieflings are said to be most zealous.
The Fishermen created a series of challenges to serve as training regime and initiation ritual. It ensures they have all the skills that fishermen need, such as survival, disguise, infiltration, butchery, and acrobatics.
The Splinter Kingdom began to believe in the legend of the Valiant Crusader, a story that grew in the telling until it became an aspirational identity. Their nobility fought to be recognized as this Crusader, and their eventual ruler was the first to succeed.
Each of The Three is said to dwell in one of the Living Dungeons that first courted them, operating a vast system of tribute. The dragon gains a sentient vessel for its hoard, whilst the dungeon gains an aide to digestion, and so began this dangerous association.
The Imperial Architects, last of their Legion, came to serve the Holy Priestess faithfully. Her ever-changing temple is their legacy, and certainly not a living dungeon.
A small sect of Fishermen broke away from the Prince of Shadows to tend the ecology of the sea. Somewhere in the ocean's depths is a commemoration of their connection to the High Druid, a ritual site which serves the needs of passing leviathans; to be eaten by one is a great honor.
Dwarven frescoes commemorate conflicts of the surface world, recording the forms and desires of men, lest they go extinct. Illegal contributions to these conflicts back Dwarven claims to all surface treasure.
This Age ended as a psychic plague of screaming ghosts drew upon demonic power, and in this madness, killed off more than half of all sentient life.
