Frequently Asked Questions: Crafting - Omni-guides/Tuxborn GitHub Wiki
"Why can't I find or craft potions or create enchantments to fortify Blacksmithing, Alchemy, or Enchanting?"
These are removed by the Simonrim mods we're running.
It does not mean that. You should still be able to reasonably improve all your gear as long as you unlock all relevant perks in Smithing and Enchanting. You may not be able to do multiple iterations of Legendary as you would in vanilla, but Legendary in general, yes.
The following are known means you can still use to fortify your crafting skills.
- The Forgemaster's Fingers, which in many circumstances you'll need to retrieve in order to become Blood-Kin to the Orcs, and which will still work to fortify your Smithing
- The Deck of Builders in Legacy of the Dragonborn, which will give you +10 to Smithing, Alchemy, and Enchanting.
- The dragon priest mask Vahlok still works to buff your enchanting. As per the LOTD wiki, it buffs it by 20%.
Additionally, there's an extra means available via Legacy of the Dragonborn, but this is a spoiler, so:
A tasty way to get enchantment buffs at the tail end of a Legacy of the Dragonborn quest...
If you finish the quest Shattered Legacy, you will get access to a set of gear called Visage of the Dragonborn. And if you have every single piece of this gear equipped, including the Sword of Ancient Tongues which Auryen will give you when you have 550 displays in your museum, you will get the following very tasty bonuses to enchanting:
- Increases magnitude of enchantments by 40%
- Increases charge of enchantments by 40%
- Increases recharge amount of enchantments by 40%
- All items can be enchanted with one extra effect
Apothecary, the Simonrim overhaul mod we're using for Alchemy, removes a bunch of potions from the game, but also adds a bunch. As a consequence, this means many of the alchemical ingredients in Tuxborn aren't going to do the same things you expect them to do if you're only familiar with vanilla Skyrim.
Consult the linked Nexus page for an overview of the changes the mod makes, including what potions have been removed from the game, and what ones have been added. However, the mod page does not call out what ingredients you need to make these new types of potions. So for the convenience of Tuxborn players, we're doing so here.
This information can be considered spoilers. But for players who'd like the help on what all the various alchemical ingredients do now, here's what we know.
Known replacements of vanilla potion types for Tuxborn types, and how to make them...
This is a table of what vanilla potions have been dropped, and what Tuxborn potions replace them. Please note the following about this table:
- Some vanilla potion types have multiple lines in this table, because they map to different Tuxborn potions depending on what ingredients you're using.
- Likewise, some vanilla potion types not actually removed by Apothecary nonetheless map to a Tuxborn potion type, again depending on what ingredients you're using.
- Vanilla potion types that have not been removed by Apothecary are highlighted here in bold.
- We are following the convention used by the UESP here, and listing all known ingredients that result in the given potion. You do not need each and every ingredient in the list, just two of them.
