He is from Ballicaster.

Black hair, green eyes, white. Has a goatee and medium-short hair. 

Elzaren would not yet be known, but is outgoing enough to work with strangers.

Escaping some heat from the earldom of Witpool. Pretending to be a mage previously employed by Earl Peter Hawkstone to see what good will he can generate to shield him.

His false identity, Geron Grunewald, caught his attention. His magic might be useful in solving the town's problems.

A wizard name Sigurd Bartosz was all but guaranteed a position as the tutor for the Earl's son. Elzaren got the job instead after a night of carousing with the Earl. After a few weeks, Sigurd eventually revealed the magic formulae in the student's notes were gibberish, and was able to divine that Elzaren was using a false identity. Elzaren was one step ahead and managed to leave town before his duplicity had been revealed at court, though. Sigurd had foolishly wanted to wait until daytime where the local nobility and knights would be present for maximum humiliation, but a serving girl keen on Elzaren had tipped him off that the notes were in Sigurd's possession.

Elzaren's father Conrad is a priest in his hometown. His mother Yulia had stolen from the church's coffers and fled with a traveler when Elzaren was eleven. Elzaren feels both sorry for his dad, but also resolves never to let himself be swindled.

He has a twin sister Elisa who is a homemaker married to a merchant in his hometown. She worries for Elzaren's flighty lifestyle, but has her hands too full with her own family to do anything about it.

His older brother Aldric is a priest like their father. He disapproves Elzaren's lifestyle and fears that he is too much like their mother.

Elzaren does not like to stay in one place too long, and typically desires to share his ill gotten goods with the common folk to earn their admiration. Generally, he is just trying to avoid anyone he's crossed or setting down roots. He loves to learn stories, especially if they are magical or fantastical in nature so that he can embellish them and repeat them to crowds.
