Weld Vertices node icon   Weld Vertices (node)

Merge coincident vertices within a contour and drop the zero-length edges they leave.

A corner where two coincident vertices sit a hair apart, joined by a zero-length edge; a Weld arrow points right to the same corner as a single clean vertex.

Inputs

  • Geometry (any): the geometry to clean.
  • Tolerance (number, editable: default 0.02) - how close two vertices must be, in millimeters, to be merged into one.

Outputs

  • Geometry (any): the same geometry with each contour's coincident vertices merged and the zero-length edges between them removed.

What Weld Vertices is for

This is the targeted fix for a contour carrying duplicate points stacked on top of each other - the defect that makes Fillet, Chamfer, or a boolean fail at a corner. It walks each contour, merges any two vertices closer together than Tolerance, and drops the zero-length edges that merge leaves behind.

It's the vertex-merge pass on its own. For a broader clean-up - spikes, slivers, and sub-minimum-area contours as well - reach for Cleanup, which folds this in as one of its passes. Use Vertices first if you want to see the duplicates before welding them.
