Cleanup node icon   Cleanup (node)

Remove needle/sliver artifacts: weld coincident vertices, remove spikes (the whiskers a near-tangent boolean clip leaves), and drop contours below a minimum area.

A messy polygon with a thin whisker spike, cleaned into a tidy region in region orange.

Each pass toggles on/off.

Inputs

  • Geometry (any): the geometry to clean.
  • Tolerance (number): the weld/whisker size; how close counts as coincident, in mm.
  • Weld Points (on/off): merge coincident vertices.
  • Remove Spikes (on/off): retract needle whiskers and overshoot spikes.
  • Spike (number): the largest overshoot spike to retract, in mm.
  • Min Area (on/off): drop contours below a minimum area.
  • Area (number): the smallest contour area to keep, in mm2.
  • Blunt Tips (on/off): cap genuine sharp cusps flat.
  • Blunt (number): how far back each cusp tip is trimmed, in mm.

Outputs

  • Geometry (any): the cleaned geometry.

What it is for

Tidies up the debris booleans leave behind: vertices that should be one but are two, hair-thin spikes where two edges nearly touched, and slivers too small to matter. Run it before an export or before a Weld, when a shape looks right but behaves oddly.

Each pass has its own toggle and its own size, so you can turn on just the one you need and leave the rest alone.
