Water Damage Stains - austenrpg/eternallies GitHub Wiki
A strange pattern found on the walls of High Branch Manor.
The image is roughly the size of a hand.
The image appears on the wallpapered walls. When the wallpaper is removed, the pattern is visible on the surface behind.
This started in 1928. Walter Winston was concerned about the marks, removed the paper and saw the stains persisted behind. He called for assistance and removed the damage material in the walls, replacing that and the wallpaper. A few months later, the stain reappeared in the same spot. Walter was terrified by this, and asked for a painting from the attic to be placed over the stain so it was not visible. This was in Walter's bedroom - after this, he moved to another room, locked his old bedroom and asked Jenkins never to enter there again.
Janet Winston is initially vague when asked about it. She then confesses she does remember it. She found it creept and believed the house was haunted.
Nurse Hampton from the Joy Grove Sanitorium said she has seen similar patterns on the wall of the sanitorium.
When a photo of the symbol was presented to Douglas Henslowe, he became very agitated saying "This is it! It's still active! It's watching us! Where did you get it?". This contrasted with the warding symbols on the walls of the Joy Grove Sanitorum which he said he'd put there to protect him. When told this was found on the walls of Winston's house, he started shouting "Walter, it's watching me" becoming more agitated until he was remvoed by orderlies.
