Douglas Henslowe - austenrpg/eternallies GitHub Wiki

An associate of Walter Winston. He was one of Winston's detectives.

Joy Grove Sanitorium

He currently is a patient at the Joy Grove Sanitorium. He was self-admitted around 10 years ago. His family was locally notable and had money - it was not uncommon for the wealthy to have a sabbatical in the sanitorium, but their issues were generally less severe than Henslowe. Henslowe did leave briefly a few years ago to the Henslowe Estate for the period between March 1933 and February 1934, but was unsuccessful at integrating into society and returned after a few months.

During his stays at Joy Grove, as well as the intervening period, he wrote letters to Walter, referencing strange occurrences.

Delusions

Henslowe was involved in a violent altercation that led to the deaths of others. He says this was caused by a confrontation with monsters. Doctor Keaton, who is in charge of his care, believes this is a delusion used to justify the violent outcome of the situation, caused by brain trauma.

Keaton states Henslowe shared his delusions with Edgar Job, who Keaton had brought from a Californian jail to the hospital when he learned of the similarity been their tales.

Keaton has arranged joint sessions between Job and Henslowe. Both have vague recollections of anger and were hostile to each other, both desiring to end the encounters, becoming quite aggressive to the point of fighting, with Job rushing at Henslowe shouting "You tried to kill me but I'm still here".

The facts of any potential prior meeting between the two have not been able to be established.

Miscellaneous

A search of newspaper articles related to Henslowe revealed some society columns from 50 years ago, discussing the lavish parties organized by his family, but nothing about Douglas.

A search of police records revealed Henslowe has no criminal record. He has a driving license registered to the family estate.
