Walter Winston - austenrpg/eternallies GitHub Wiki
Pharmaceutical magnate. Father of Janet Winston-Rogers. Lived at High Branch Manor.
He created his business after the war and it grew quickly to an enormous size.
After the war, he developed an interest in folklore and the occult. He became obsessed with this and began becoming more distant, spending more time away from home. He once told Janet he was "battling some strange people" and spent his time tracking these people. When he was home, he was meeting people related to his obsession. This behavious caused his wife to start drinking.
August 1924 - Walter returned after spending the year to this point away from home. He seemed deranged. From this point, he stopped travelling or meeting people at his house. He burned all his books and would barely eat. He was jumpy and believed he was being watched, but would not talk about what had happened and forbade his family from asking about it. "Nothing matters", he said.
His wife died from alcoholism in 1932. Walter became paranoid, a shadow of himself and would not leave the house at all. He stopped eating.
Walter died July 1934.
Janet Winston-Rogers searched his possessions. Of particular note were letters from Douglas Henslowe, leading Janet to believe Henslowe may have been one of the people to visit her father over the years and that Henslowe may know what happened to her father in August 1924.
