Ambient - ZAWA-Evolved/ZAWA GitHub Wiki
Ambient animals are a type of entity in ZAWA: Evolved.
Ambients are generally small fish, insects, or vertebrates that are not considered complex enough to warrant a full spread of stats and care guidelines. They are small, often have multiple species variants, and are easy to breed en masse to feed larger animals or fill up exhibits.
Ambient creatures have several significant differences from full animals.
- Ambient creatures do not have a sex. If ambient animals have sexually dimorphic colors, they are generally depicted as the male morph.
- To easily fill exhibits and farm them for food, ambients are bred simply like vanilla animals, without gestation times fertility.
- Ambient animals do not require food, water, or enrichment to survive.
- Ambient animals are never given detailed "zawa eyes" on their texture.
- With very few exceptions, ambient animals have very low health.
Ambient animals can be captured with your bare hands, capture cages, capture nets, seine nets, and slingshot nets.
As of version 1.0.0, the following ambient animals are obtainable in-game:
- African lake cichlid
- Betta
- Brown rat
