Tranquilizer gun

In similar fashion to the crossbow, a tranquilizer gun must be loaded with a tranquilizer dart before it is fired. Hold right click to load the gun, and once loaded a simple right click will fire the dart with the same force and speed as a crossbow and its bolt.

Tranquilized animals will be stunned for only a minute; during this time they cannot move nor attack. However, as soon as the effects wear off, they continue with their normal behavior.

Tranquilizer guns are only traded by Weaponsmiths and cannot be crafted in survival. While difficult to obtain, they have 1028 uses and can be repaired with an iron ingot in an anvil.

One tranquilizer gun can be traded for 6x Emeralds from a Weaponsmith villager.
Four tranquilizer darts can be crafted with 1x Iron Nugget, 1x Venom bottle, and 1x Wool of any color.

Bare hand capture

Ambient, tiny, and small animals can be picked up by right clicking them with an empty hand. Animals can then be set down by sneaking.

Timid, neutral, and tamed animals of all temperaments will tolerate this, but wild defensive, territorial, or aggressive animals consider this an attack and will begin to deal damage to the player. Any damage can be negated while holding these dangerous animals if the player has a handling glove equipped in their offhand.

This is a safe option to move smaller tame animals around a zoo facility, and potentially a viable way to bring less dangerous wild animals into a safe location to tame them.

Capture net

Capture nets can be used to catch ambient, tiny, small, and medium-sized animals.

Using the capture net on an entity deals 1 heart (2 points) of damage to an animal, so using it on extremely small animals is not recommended.

Capture nets have four uses before breaking. They can be repaired in an anvil with an iron ingot.

One capture net can be crafted with 3x Rope, 1x Iron and 1x Stick.

Capture cage

Capture cages are used for catching animals of any size.

Capture cages are placed on the ground with a closed door, which you can right click to open. Animals can be chased or lured into a capture cage's opening.

When stepped into by an entity, the capture cage will snap shut and contain the animal! This deals no damage to them. On trapping an animal, capture cages make an iron door closing sound effect. It can then be broken normally to be picked up and carry in your inventory. The entity can then be released by first placing the cage, then right clicking it when you are ready to open it.

Animals released from the cage will always be awake and alert, and thus may react negatively based on their natural behavior. Zookeepers must be very strategic in releasing them.

Capture cages never break, and are fairly costly to craft. One cage can be crafted with 1x Tripwire Hook, 1x Light Weighted Pressure Plate, 4x Iron Trapdoor and 3x Iron Block.

Seine net

Seine nets are used for capturing aquatic animals of any size.

Only placeable in water, these net blocks are the perfect tool for safely catching aquatics. The animal must swim into the net to be caught; and for larger aquatics you may find it useful to build a wall of nets in order to catch them!

Once a seine net has caught an animal, it will break into an item containing them and try to float to the surface. Unfortunately, these nets become entangled after use, and as such will break once the animal is released.

Four seine nets can be crafted with 4x Iron and 5x Rope.

Slingshot net

The net launcher and slingshot net are capture items used for small, fast animals.

The net launcher uses slingshot nets as ammunition. Net launchers, like crossbows, fire at full power where they are aimed. Slingshot nets are cheap to craft, but only have one use, and do not drop themselves if the player misses a shot. They also will break if an animal is released from them.

If the net projectile hits an ambient, tiny, small, or medium-sized animal, it drops as an item containing the animal.

Net guns are only traded by Weaponsmiths and cannot be crafted in survival. While difficult to obtain, they have 1028 uses and can be repaired with an iron ingot in an anvil.

One net launcher can be traded for 3x Emeralds from a Weaponsmith villager. Two slingshot nets can be crafted with 4x Iron Nugget and 5x String.
