Praying mantis - ZAWA-Evolved/ZAWA GitHub Wiki

This page is a work in progress!

Spawning and taming

Praying mantises are rare spawns in dry grassland (African, devil's flower), temperate forest (Chinese, European), dry rainforest (ghost), deep rainforest (orchid) biomes. They spawn alone.

While ambient, as defensive animals, attempting to pick them up will be considered as an attack and they will begin to deal damage to the player. It is recommended to use a capture cage or a slingshot net instead. While dangerous, fortunately they are slow.

Praying mantises cannot be tamed, but are still perfect for your exhibits anyways!

Care

Praying mantises have 1 heart (2 points) of health, can deal 0.5 hearts (1 point) of damage, and drop praying mantis item item (species dependent) upon death.

As ambient animals, they do not need specialized care.

Praying mantises can be bred with mealworms.

Exhibit building

(note: exhibit building sections contain a mix of gameplay information and building advice. Not all recommendations are necessary to keep animals happy, fed, and watered, but can help players build a realistic enclosure.)

Variants

There are six species of praying mantis represented in ZAWA Evolved: Chinese mantis, orchid mantis, European mantis, African mantis, devil’s flower mantis, and ghost mantis.
