The Chained Stomper is an object in Sonic the Hedgehog, appearing in the lower areas of Marble Zone. They come in two varieties: one sporting a long metal base, with spikes underneath, and the other being small and dense. Both serve as platforms, but both can also crush you from above or below, if you aren't careful. The spikes on the longer variant are not, in fact, solid, but the base can still crush you if it is low enough.

Almost all chained stompers slowly rise to the ceiling before dropping suddently, but there is one special type of chained stomper that only appears in Marble Act 1. This one stays completely still until a connected button switch is hit, which causes it to rise up. Depressing the switch causes it to immediately drop back down, so navigating the obstacle requires use of an accompanying pushable block.
