Renouncing Your Oaths

As the Radiants of old once abandoned their oaths, so may you do the same. Be warned - breaking your oaths is a terrible decision to have to make, though it can be an admirable one in the right circumstances. If you decide to abandon your oaths, there are two main ways. The first is to abandon them directly. To do this, send in the chat:

I renounce my oaths!

The other way to betray your ideals is to break your oaths directly. For most orders (Windrunners, Dustbringers, Edgedancers, Truthwatchers, Willshapers, Stonewards), murdering an innocent will satisfy this. If you belong to one of these orders and you kill a villager, you will break your oaths. The Lightweavers and Elsecallers can generally have more flexible morals, and so these orders break their oaths (in this mod) only by outright renouncing their oaths.

Skybreakers are also unique in this area. A Skybreaker of the Second Ideal breaks their oaths by killing a villager, same as the other orders. At the Third Ideal, however, a Skybreaker chooses a law to uphold. They then break their oaths only if they renounce them, or if they violate the law they swear themselves to (Note: attacking a creature with a Shardblade will be counted as killing it for the sake of violating oaths, regardless of whether it actually kills them).

Consequences

Breaking your oaths as a Radiant will have consequences. The first, and most terrible, is that you will kill your spren. Their body, in the form of a Shardblade, will drop to the ground in front of you, and you may continue using their corpse as a weapon if you wish. The bond between a Radiant and their spren is a very close one, and if this happens, you will feel your spren's death, as a part of your own soul is torn away. The one exception to this rule is the Skybreakers - Highspren do not allow themselves to grow as close with their Radiants as other spren do, and so the Knight betraying their oaths does not affect the Highspren to the same degree (Note: I haven't programmed this in yet, so a Highspren can currently die if their Radiant breaks their oaths). Additionally, if you had earned your Plate, this too will die and drop to the ground before you.

Once you have broken your oaths, you will be unable to use your powers. You will also be unable to swear the oaths again for some time (fortunately, only half an hour of real time).
