Either orthographically or via some sound change or sign history, there often seems to be cases were
þ ⋍ p in other branches of PIE
think < *þenc > pense
thick < *þek > paks (Estonian)
thirsty < þorsti > pathadh @Gaelic práha пра́га
τείνω teínō < þennan > 𒉼 PAN пуньдь puņd̦ √bend 𓌔 𓏏 𓏤 #pḏt phoiᵗ ⲫⲓϯ 𓊪 𓂧 𓌒 widen 𓊪 𓆓 𓌒 stretch
𒀀𒁀𒇻 bare < þurr > dürr
𓃀 𓅡 𓄿 𓎼 𓈗 thick παχύς pakhús packed
𓃀 𓅡 𓄿 𓎼 𓈗 thick þaig *þek •pthick تخين taḵīn
this might be an artifact of scholars who were confusing þ for p or it goes deeper to ambivalences of π or old readings of 𓃀𓅡 close to pod, boot, bird
Or it might just be a coincidence
Or it might have been a xenotic sound ψ Ψ ≈ pth ≈ 𓆑 𓏏 ≈ 𓊪 𓆓
