FireSlide™ MakerSlide Nema 11 stepper mount (20T+)

This Nema 11 mount variant trades precision for speed by using larger GT2 pulleys than the smaller Nema 11 mount (16T).

Function

MakerSlide mount for Nema 11 5mm shaft stepper motor that drives GT2 belt running through MakerSlide top channel using a 20T pulley. Provides M3 mounting holes for optical endstop Mount also has slots for inserting screwdriver to adjust belt tension.

The wider GT2 pulley requires a redirection idler (shown in image above) that keeps the GT2 belt from bottoming out in the Makerslide channel.

A provided, optional spacing washer can assist with exact GT2 pulley alignment.

Requires

  • M5x20mm screw (1) for redirection idler
  • M5 nut (1) for redirection idler
  • M5x10mm screw (2)
  • M5 extrusion nut (2)
  • High-torque Nema 11 stepper (1)
  • 5x10x4 ball bearings (2)
  • M5 washer for ball bearings (1)
  • M2.5x8-10mm screw for stepper (4)
  • GT2 20T pulley (1)
  • GT2 belt (twice as long as your MakerSlide)
  • RECOMMENDED: Optical endstop (1)
  • RECOMMENDED: M3x12mm screw for endstop (2)
  • RECOMMENDED: M3 nut (2)

Assembly

  • The provided stepper washer can sometimes be useful in getting the exact spacing necessary for proper alignment between the GT2 pulley and the MakerSlide channel
  • Use the notch in the mount to reposition and tighten the pulley as needed
  • Steppers run hot (125°F is typical) and you may want to anneal your mount by running it for 30m or longer without belt tension. Annealing will relieve stress crystallize the pastic for stability under stress.
