The Absurdity Abyss - endlessm/threadbare GitHub Wiki

An all-consuming, Void-filled chasm in the WeaveWatch Wale, where the Great Weave frays into pure, howling nonsense. Threadlings who have peered over its edge and returned, and few do, describe not darkness but a kind of melancholic melody, heard only in the depths of the mind.

The Abyss was not always there. It formed when Null took the Observatory of the Unseen, tearing the mountains open all around it. The Void poured in to fill it, consuming the deep valleys between the peaks, and the mountain tops were left cut off, floating high above the Abyss and covered in Void Creep. Some say it was like Null had commanded the presence of the Void, while others tell it was the Void that had settled and lured Null there.

It is here, on the highest of those floating peaks, that the Observatory of the Obscure stands, lair of Null and the Obscurists. They call the Abyss sacred, the truest expression of the Void's honesty - that nothing, in the end, means anything in particular. The Elders of the Eternal Loom call it something else, a wound, and forbid StoryWeavers from approaching its rim without KnitWitch magic of the most powerful kind.
