Copy geometry stepped along a from->to vector (n copies); the geometry-vector twin of Translate XY.
Category: Transform | Add menu: Transform > Move
- Geometry (any): the shape to step into copies.
- From (point): the start of the step vector.
- To (point): the end of the step vector; the step is To - From.
- Vector (any): the step given as one object instead of two points. Wire a segment in and its own start-to-end is the displacement, so where the segment sits is irrelevant and only its direction and length count. Vector wins whenever it is wired, which makes From and To the fallback. A bare point wired here is a location rather than a displacement, so it gets measured from From.
- Count (number, editable): how many copies to make; copy k is offset by k x the step. Default 1.
- Add OG (on/off): also keep the original alongside the copies. Off by default.
Two points say where the step starts and ends. A segment says the same thing in one object, with its base and tip built in, so you can build the step geometrically and wire it straight in. Reverse Direction then turns a segment around, and the move goes the other way with no wires to swap.
Which of the two the node uses. Wire Vector and the node reads it. Leave it empty and the node falls back to To minus From. They are never combined, so once Vector is wired, moving To does nothing. That ordering is also why the socket could be added to a node people already had graphs built on: a graph that never wires Vector behaves exactly as it did before.
A point is not a displacement. A segment carries a base and a tip, so it knows how far and which way on its own. A point only knows where it is, so wiring one into Vector leaves the node nothing to measure from, and it uses From as the base. Array: Directed reads its basis vectors the same way, against its own Base point. Neither node assumes the origin.
- Geometry (any): the copies as a list, each its own group.
Steps geometry along a vector, making a row of copies rather than shifting one thing. From and To set the direction and the distance of a single step; Count says how many steps to take.
Two points define the vector, so the step can be measured off geometry you already drew instead of typed. Translate XY is the same idea with numbers instead of points. Add OG keeps the original alongside the copies.
