The Punishment Plinth is an in-game location. It is at the centre of Saint Alancia's School for Girls on the crossroads of the main school corridors, ensuring maximum foot traffic. Its purpose is to humiliate girls who have broken the school rules badly enough to warrant a more extreme punishment. It consists of a raised dais with steps leading up to it and stage lighting to make sure that anyone stood there is the focal point of the area.

Girls made to stand on the punishment plinth are first stripped of some or all of their clothing. It is most common for girls to be stripped to their bra and panties, but very badly behaved girls may be made to go totally naked. A girl sent to the punishment plinth must stand completely still for the entire duration of her correction with her legs shoulder-width apart and her hands on top of her head. The idea is to display her in this exposed and vulnerable form to everyone who passes, both to humiliate her, but also to deter other girls who see her. The length of time she will spend like this is entirely at the discretion of her teacher, though she must be allowed bathroom breaks.

Girls are strictly forbidden from touching or photographing girls on the punishment plinth, and they themselves will be put on it if they break these rules. The school have installed CCTV cameras to monitor the area, though there is a rumour among the pupils that the true purpose of the cameras is to provide the teachers with entertainment.

Uses in other schools

Punishment plinths are common sights in Sapphorian High Schools, though Nissa informs Missy that her previous school Ubufazi College called it by a different name. Some of Sapphory City's more strict middle schools will have their own version, though girls made to stand on it must remain fully clothed as they are under 18. This practice is mildly frowned upon, but middle schools which do so defend it as being useful in preparing their girls for the much worse version to come when they graduate to high school and lessen the shock.
