Fivaviana - TrinianGames/Sapphory GitHub Wiki

Fivaviana is the second largest city in Sapphory. Located approximately 100 miles up the coast from Sapphory City, it is the main trading hub for Western Sapphory, and the only city that trades with the Outside World. It was added in Missy 0.7, becoming the second explorable city.

Foundation

Fivaviana was the second city to be founded during the colonisation of the island after Sapphory City. Whereas the planning of the capital had centred around security, by the time of Fivaviana's founding, the need was becoming urgent to begin importing much-needed resources for the colonisation effort. The result is that a massive port was built, with the rest of the city being planned around serving it, and this model persists to this day. Once knowledge of Sapphory in the outside world became widespread, the danger arose that men would attempt to infiltrate the island. The Sapphorian government quickly established a security checkpoint on Sentinel Island, roughly three miles off the coast of Fivaviana. Since that day, all ships entering Fivaviana port have been required to first submit to extensive searches on Sentinel.

Fivaviana grew quickly, with many women preferring its more free and open feel to the high-security environment of Sapphory City, which was the case even before the rise of the monarchy. At first, walls were constructed around it, in the same way as the capital, but the town expanded so rapidly, that attempts to keep up with this were abandoned, and today large areas of the city blend almost seamlessly with Wild Sapphory.

System of government

Fivaviana is a province of Sapphory. Because of its extreme importance as a trading hub, the only point of contact with the outside world and its relative proximity to Sapphory City, its rule is entrusted to the Kisimi family, who are closely allied to the Royal Family, the Schiede-Rinta. The current Governess of Fivaviana is Clementine Kisimi.

The Governess has broad and sweeping powers. She can set policy, collect tribute and even change certain local laws. She is answerable only to the Monarch. The Governess's mansion is one of the largest employers and slave-holders in the province, functioning as a miniature version of the Royal Palace. It is the centre of law, diplomacy and civil administration for the entire area.

Areas of the city

Several areas of Fivaviana are already explorable in-game, with more planned. Currently you can visit:

The Waterfront

Close to the ferry docks, Fivaviana waterfront serves as the tourist's point of ingress to the town. It has the Port Authority building close by where newcomers can find information and a set of stockades to ensure no one is left doubting the Governess's willingness to punish wrongdoers.

The Town Square

A bustling trade hub filled with shops, bars, restaurants and entertainment. While it lacks the prominent display column found in the centre of Sapphory City, there are once again prominent stockades here to humiliate criminals as publicly as possible.

Old Town

The more rustic area of the city is where the majority of its lower-paid workers live. Not intended for tourism, it is nonetheless well maintained and quite pleasant, as the canal runs along the South and East sides.

The Temple of the Mothers

The vast structure in which the Treaty of Fivaviana was signed in the First Era. It is open all day for tourists to view.

The Slave Auction

Held once a month, Fivaviana slave auction always draws huge crowds. There is currently a shortage of enslaved girls, driving up prices.
