HOW TO: Configure the All CPU Meter to show core temperatures

The All CPU Meter gadget can be configured to display core temperatures when used in conjunction with the CoreTemp, SpeedFan, or HWiNFO monitoring applications. The monitoring application must be running in the background.

Using CoreTemp

Using CoreTemp will allow your All CPU Meter to show core temperatures.

  1. Start CoreTemp if it is not already running. If you have not yet configured CoreTemp, follow the instructions here.
  2. From the All CPU Meter, click the wrench icon in the upper right corner to open the All CPU Meter Settings.
  3. Check the Show Core Temperatures option.
  4. If you configured CoreTemp to report temperatures in Fahrenheit, check the Show Temperatures in °F option.
  5. Users with AMD CPUs should uncheck the Show Temperatures Per-Core option and check the Override TjMax option. AMD CPUs do not report temperatures on a per-core basis, nor do they report the TjMax value.

Using SpeedFan

Using SpeedFan will allow your All CPU Meter to show core temperatures and CPU fan speed.

  1. Start SpeedFan if it is not already running. If you have not yet configured SpeedFan, follow the instructions here.
  2. From the All CPU Meter, click the wrench icon in the upper right corner to open the All CPU Meter Settings.
  3. Check the Show Core Temperatures option.
  4. If you want temperatures to be shown in Fahrenheit, check the Show Temperatures In °F option.
  5. Users with AMD CPUs should uncheck the Show Temperatures Per-Core option, because AMD CPUs do not report temperatures on a per-core basis. If the Show Temperatures Per-Core option is unchecked, the Override TjMax option must be checked because SpeedFan cannot report this value even for Intel CPUs.
  6. If you want to show your CPU fan speed, check the Show Fan Usage option.
    • If known, enter the maximum CPU fan speed in the Max CPU Fan RPM textbox; if unknown, enter a low number (e.g., 100) and All CPU Meter will learn the maximum value over time.

Using HWiNFO

Using HWiNFO will allow your All CPU Meter to show core temperatures and CPU fan speed.

  1. Start HWiNFO if it is not already running. If you have not yet configured HWiNFO, follow the instructions here.
  2. From the All CPU Meter, click the wrench icon in the upper right corner to open the All CPU Meter Settings.
  3. Click the HWiNFO icon or the List HWiNFO Indexes link to display the HWiNFO indexes you selected during the Sensor Settings configuration.
  4. Click the Notepad icon to display the HWiNFO configuration file, and carefully follow the instructions in the file to assign the indexes to the appropriate variables for your various devices.
  5. Save the HWiNFO configuration file and click the blue Refresh icon in the Settings to refresh Rainmeter.
  6. Check the Show Core Temperatures option.
  7. If you configured HWiNFO to report temperatures in Fahrenheit, check the Show Temperatures in °F option.
  8. Users with AMD CPUs that do not report per-core temperatures should uncheck the Show Temperatures Per-Core option and check the Override TjMax option. While newer versions of HWiNFO can report per-core temperatures for some AMD CPUs, many AMD CPUs do not report temperatures on a per-core basis, nor do they report the TjMax value.
  9. If you want to show your CPU fan speed, check the Show Fan Usage option.
    • If known, enter the maximum CPU fan speed in the Max CPU Fan RPM textbox; if unknown, enter a low number (e.g., 100) and All CPU Meter will learn the maximum value over time.
