The Lamppost is an object in Sonic the Hedgehog, appearing in almost all playable stages in the standard game mode GM_Level. Its default state is blue, but when Sonic touches it, it turns red. Sonic's progress is saved when this happens, and if he loses a life, he will start at the last lamppost he hit, instead of at the start of the level.
