Biography
Kovac was the youngest of the four, hired onto the fuel handling crew in 1985 after her radiochemistry degree. She ran the nitrogen cooled storage racks and knew every cell in the receptacle by maintenance history. Teammates described her as the fastest hands on the fuel crew.
She was one of four personnel who manually released all four fuel cells into the borated pit within the synchronization window during the October 1987 Thermal Runaway, after the failed primary SCRAM. The ejection stalled the reactor and prevented total superstructure loss.
She was transported to the hospital in extremely critical condition. No further records have been recovered.
Personality
Fast, funny, first to volunteer. Treated fuel handling like a craft and kept personal logs on every cell she racked.
