Endless Sky: Galactic War mod wiki

This wiki will contain information about this mod faction lore and technology (and SPOILERS!).

What this mod adds: 100+ of ships, 450+ outfits, and 16 new alien races.

Currently the plugin is still in development version; most of the content is not finished yet.

What is done so far:

  • New sprites for majority of the ships.
  • One sector of the galaxy (Dels-Ignaggen-Erader-Kroom-Geeva space) filled with systems and some planets.
  • A few planet descriptions.
  • Intro for a few races(Nuru, Uoorn)

What need to be done:

  • Everything else not mentioned above... (faction/race intro, the rest of the galaxy, storyline, etc.)

What can you do right now

  • An alternate start is available, though with almost zero intro and few balance issue, it is generally playable. You can trade commodities, do jobs, buy ships and outfits, Jump Drives are also obtainable within the existing space.
  • Explore the galaxy and try new outfits.
  • Or help out with the development! In general please contact me (1010todd) before you do anything but here's some example of things that I need help with:
    • Balance: The balance right now is very rough, some extra checking and suggestion would be appreciated.
    • Play test: Play the normal way and find bugs and exploit that need to be patched.
    • Proofread: Proofread existing texts of any kind (Ship/planet/other descriptions, missions, etc.).
    • Landscape images: I've been reusing existing landscape images a lot, new, unique one would be very nice.
    • Plant sprite: I have very little unique planet sprites right now, would appreciate new ones.
    • Projectile/effect sprites: Improving bad sprites and make new sprites for weapons that are using vanilla sprites(such as particle beam).
    • Outfit Sprites: I need a lot of these.

Using the Plugin

To install the plugin, download the code from the main page/release as .zip and extract it in your plugin folder which can be found here:

  • Linux: ~/.local/share/endless-sky/plugins/
  • Windows: C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\endless-sky\plugins\
  • Mac OS X: ~/Library/ApplicationSupport/endless-sky/plugins/

To access the galaxy you will need a Jump Drive. Head north and find a pair of system near Sko'karak north(above) of Ka'ch'chrai system in Wanderer space.

Known Problems

Game crashing when plugin is installed: Make sure you have enough memory.

Galaxy image not appearing: Turn on "reduce large graphic" option in the setting then restart the game(Don't forget to save before you do so.
