Font Size

By default, AppChan uses a very small font size. However, since not all people have the same eye sight, there are a couple of bigger sizes that affect most content of 4chan.

AppChan Sidebar Margin

This option simply allows one to remove the blank space behind AppChan's sidebar (where the post form, board logo, and various AppChan user interface reside).

Board Navigation

Chooses the positioning and style of the board navigation.

  • Top and bottom refer to the position of the bar.
  • Sticky refers to "sticking" to the browser viewpoint while scrolling, or being visible at all times.
  • Slideout is like sticky, but with a little tab you can hover over to pull out the full navigation.
  • 4chan defaults don't change anything
  • Hide simply hides the board navigation and prevents it from being usable.

Pages Navigation

Chooses the positioning and style of the pages navigation.

  • Top and bottom refers to the position of the bar.
  • Sticky refers to "sticking" to the browser viewpoint while scrolling, or being visible at all times.
  • 4chan defaults don't change anything
  • Hide simply hides the board navigation and prevents it from being usable.
  • On Side is a special option which puts the Pagination in AppChan's sidebar, above the post form, rotated on its side. Looks snazzy.

Compact Navigation

Attempts to make the board navigation smaller by removing unnecessary margins and spacing.

  • Horizontal leaves it as is.
  • Vertical flips it on its side and forks it in the sidebar, overriding any custom positioning provided by the Sticky Navigation option.

Board Name / Logo

Shows the board name, 4chan's image logos, or both.

Post Form

Changes the style of the post form.

  • Fixed simply leaves it at the side at all time
  • Slideout hides most of the postform outside the boundaries of the page and leaves a little bit that can be hovered over to slide it into a usable position.
  • Tabbed Slideout completely moves the post form off the page and slides it out if you hover over a labeled tab that simply says "Post Form"
  • Transparent Fade simply makes the post form transparent when not hovered over.

Replace Post Form with Quick Reply

This option replaces the post form with 4chan x's Quick Reply. Yes uses the same style as "Fixed" for the Quick Reply in the normal post form options. All other options use the same styles as the other post form for the Quick Reply.

Post Form Labels

Simply adds labels to the post form that describe the functionality of each input.

Captcha Reload Button

In the normal post form only, because Quick Reply implementations use their own stylings, shows a button to reload the quick reply if the one given is unusable.

Return Button

Shows a simple little button with "<<" which allows you to return back to the board's main page.

Delete Buttons

Allows one to hide or show the delete buttons or delete user interface.

  • Show shows all delete UI.
  • Hide password fields hides all password inputs but leaves the user interface to actually delete posts. This does not remove Report functionality.
  • Hide hides everything, including report functionality.

Reply Width

Changes the width of replies.

  • Fit Page Width forces the replies to occupy 100% of the available space, but allows the first couple posts to wrap around the OP image, if the space is available, wasting less vertical space.
  • Fit Page Width, but don't wrap OP Image does the same as above, but forces all replies to be equal width, pushing them down if horizontal space is not available to stretch the whole page's width, except the sidebar margin.
  • Fit Content makes replies occupy no more space than they need to for the contents within them.

Transparent Replies

Makes replies transparent. Not really useful for anything unless you want to do some modifications to AppChan to give it a background image you want to be able to see through posts. If you want to do this, you'll find it nice that the colors will match up to their defaults for the color scheme you're using.

Rounded Corners

Simply rounds the corners of various elements.

  • Yes rounds corners for everything
  • Circle Checkboxes rounds corners for everything, but gives you circles for checkboxes.
  • No doesn't round anything except URL bubbles.

Sage Identification

A nice little identifier for users of sage.

  • Text adds a red text indicator.
  • Image adds a small image of the herb "sage" (pronounced sAYj).
  • None adds no identifier.

Filename Expansion

Expands filenames to show their full original name. Because this is a hack, this makes filename text not selectable except in Opera, for some reason.

4chan Thread Filter

Moves the 4chan thread filter

  • Locked Top / Thread Watcher moves it into the 4chan x's thread watcher. If you don't use a thread watcher, it simply puts it at the top of the page.
  • Locked Bottom moves it over the postform at the bottom of the page.
  • Moveable allows you to move it where ever the hell you want.

Custom Scrollbars

Uses custom scrollbars defined by the color scheme you're using. As far as I know, it only works in Firefox and Chrome/ium.

Thread Separation Lines

Puts lines between 4chan thread.

  • Yes puts a 1 pixel line
  • Thicker puts a 2 pixel line.
  • No removes the line, but still separates threads.

Bonus Icons (Sega / Neko)

Adds identification for funny / fake emails. In this way, AppChan adds a special feeling to 4chan that wouldn't otherwise exist. The more people who use this option, the more people you'll see with little cats and sega genesises by their names.

4chan X Image Hover

4chan X has an option which allows one to hover over images and expand them in a dialog on the page. This controls whether or not 4chan's various elements will be above or below that dialog and how much those images are expanded.

  • Fit to screen width simply prevents the image from being bigger than the screen and resizes it if it is 85% bigger than either the height or width of the screen.
  • Keep above URL Bar adds a bit of padding to the bottom of the Image Hover to prevent it from being overlapped by the URL Preview bar that modern browsers have.
  • Both does both.
  • Neither does neither.

moot's Announcements

Shows or hides moot's announcements.

Centered Posts?

Centers posts, adding a bit of padding between the edges of the page and the edges of posts.

  • No doesn't.
  • Completely does, which can cause it to overlap the side bar.
  • Slightly keeps the side bar's margin the same, but adds some padding to the opposite side of the posts.

Quoting / Backlinks Position

Moves 4chan X's quote links to a different part of the reply. The following options are available:

  • Top Right
  • Bottom Right
  • Bottom Left

Generally, Top Right is the safest option. Both of the bottom options cause problems with 4chan x's "Inline Replies".

Post Content Padding

Removes padding in replies and posts.

  • Normal is 4chan defaults.
  • Half shrinks the padding.
  • None removes all of it.

Expand Postform Textarea on Use

Expands the post form when you're using it. It is recommended not to use this option in combination with Expanded Images Cover Post Form because expanded images will cover the text area if they fill the entire reply table. Does not work properly in left sidebar alignment with the default post form.

Thread Watcher

Changes the style of the thread watcher.

  • Normal is the same as fixed for the post form.
  • Slideout is like tabbed slideout for the post form.
  • Transparent Fade is exactly the same as the post form's slideout fade.

Side Bar Placement

Changes the position of the post form, logo and board text, thread watcher, filter, and various AppChan user interface. By default, everything is on the right side of 4chan. Do not change this to the left side if you have removed the AppChan Sidebar Margin without making everything else slide out if you want a usable 4chan.

Faded Captcha

Makes the captcha slightly transparent so it doesn't blind you with dark color schemes. Light color scheme users can disable this option at will.

Expanded Images Cover Post Form?

Makes expanded images cover the post form. Don't use this with the Expand Postform Textarea on Use unless you like expanded images covering up your textarea when you're using it.
