Description

Twine is thick and strong cordage made by twisting strands of certain plant fibers.

Recipe

We need to distinguish twisting and spinning fiber. Twisting requires no tool, while spinning requires a spindle. Main goal is that spinning does not involve crafting grid as in TFC but instead requires holding down right mouse button. Later spinning wheel (machine) can be used to speed up spinning.

Proposal:

Twisting - Use fiber for a period of time to turn it into twine. This is consistent with TFC+ way of making rope from fiber. Further more, ropes can be braided by using 5 pieces of twine for a period of time.

Spinning - Use a spindle for a period of time, while having fiber on hotbar. The product is a spindle with yarn spun on it. Then craft the product to separate the spindle and yarn. Spindle does not take damage, and multiple spindles holding spun yarn from the same kind of fiber can stack together.

Note: Using an item or a stack of items for a period of time will be a proper recipe that will show up in NEI. It will be a simplified version of Churning.

Note 2: A wooden spindle will be available to implement the new spinning mechanic and also allow pre-pottery textile production. TFC ceramic spindle may retain its "quick" spinning crafting grid functionality, even for any newly added fibers, as per configuration.

Usage

Twine can be used to make rope, as binding material for Composite Tools, as bowstring, and in several other crafting recipes.

Notes

• Twine cannot be used for weaving. Fibers need to be spun into yarns using a spindle which can be weaved into cloth.
