Description
Primitive Rope Maker is a handwork tool used for crafting ropes.
Recipe
Craft a primitive rope maker using two sticks, a binding and a knife.
Usage
Right click while holding the rope maker to attach and start twisting a suitable cordage, twine or string that is present in adjacent slot to the right of the rope maker. Material is consumed once successfully attached to the rope maker.
Right click and hold the rope maker to twist rope from the attached material. The progress is indicated with the damage bar filling up as well as twisted rope being visually added on the item.
When the spinning process is complete, right click the spindle while sneaking to retrieve the spun yarn.
By default, the process of rope making takes about 30 real time seconds. Feel free to change the value of crafting.ropeMakingDurationMultiplier in the configuration to adjust the duration according to your needs.
Material
Textile materials need to be adequately processed and then spun with a Spindle first.
The following materials can be twisted into rope.
| Material | Amount required | Total fiber required |
|---|---|---|
| Linen String | 16 | 4 |
| Bark Cordage | 12 | 6 |
| Nettle Twine | 16 | 8 |
| Sisal Twine | 8 | 4 |
| Jute Twine | 12 | 6 |
TFC Compatibility
By default, the current TFC+ method of making ropes by holding right mouse button when holding fibers is also available. To prevent making ropes this way set the value of crafting.preventRopeMakingByRightClickingFibers to true.
By default, the crafting grid recipes for making rope from fibers is also available. To remove these recipes, set the value of crafting.removeOriginalRopeMakingRecipes to true.
Notes
- Primitive rope maker is not intended to replace the planned TFC+ rope maker and is more like a place holder that will be in all likelihood discontinued once TFC+ rope maker is added.
- The amount of fiber needed to make ropes varies, and loosely reflects the suitability of the material for making ropes, i.e. stronger fibers require less material.
- Sisal and Flax are ideal for twisting rope.
