Description
Spindle is a tool that is used for spinning various fibers into yarn.
Recipe
First make a whorl.
A stone whorl can be created by drilling a rock using a drill head.
Combine a whorl and a stick in the crafting grid to craft a spindle.
Usage
Right click while holding a spindle to attach and start spinning a suitable fiber that is present in adjacent slot to the right of the spindle. Fiber is consumed once successfully attached to the spindle.
Right click and hold the spindle to spin the fiber that has been attached. The progress is indicated with the damage bar filling up as well as spun yarn being visually added on the spindle item.
When the spinning process is complete, right click the spindle while sneaking to retrieve the spun yarn.
By default, the process of spinning takes about 6 real time seconds. Feel free to change the value of crafting.spinningDurationMultiplier in the configuration to adjust the duration according to your needs.
TFC Compatibility
Unlike TFC Spindle, this spindle cannot be used to process fibers in the crafting grid. By default, TFC Spindle is still available to do just that.
Set the value of crafting.removeOriginalSpindleSpinningRecipes in the configuration to true to disable TFC Spindle fiber processing recipes in the crafting grid.
Fibers
The following Textile materials can be spun once adequately processed.
| Fibers | Output |
|---|---|
| Refined Flax Fibers | Linen String |
| Refined Cotton Fibers | Cotton Yarn |
| Refined Wool Fibers | Wool Yarn |
| Refined Sisal Fibers | Sisal Twine |
| Refined Jute Twine | Jute Twine |
| Smooth Bark Fibers | Bark Cordage |
Coarse fibers can be spun, thus skipping the last refining processing step, but it is quite a bit more difficult.
Products can be used as tool binding, making Rope, and weaving as follows:
| Material | Binding | Rope | Cloth | Burlap |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Linen String | Strong | Yes | Yes | No |
| Cotton Yarn | Poor | No | Yes | No |
| Wool Yarn | Poor | No | Yes | No |
| Sisal Twine | Strong | Yes | No | Yes |
| Jute Twine | Strong | Yes | No | Yes |
| Bark Cordage | Strong | Yes | No | No |
Notes
- In contrast to the TFC spindle, this spindle attempts to simulate the spinning of yarn as a time consuming and laborious activity.
- A spinning wheel device will be added as faster and more convenient means to spin yarn.
- Spinning recipes are listed in NEI if installed.
