Description

Heckle is a handwork tool that can be used as a final refining step in the processing of Jute and Flax fibers by splitting and aligning them, and removing short fibers (tow), making them easier to spin.

Recipe

Craft a Bone Heckle by using 2 Bone knife blades, resin, and binding.

Usage

Right click while holding a Heckle to attach and start heckling coarse fibers that are present in adjacent slot to the right of the Heckle. Fibers are consumed once successfully attached to the Heckle.

Right click and hold the Heckle to refine the fibers that have been attached. The progress is indicated with the damage-like bar filling up as well as the attached fibers being visually changed on the item.

When the heckling process is complete, right click the Heckle while sneaking to retrieve the refined fibers.

By default, the process of heckling takes about 6 real time seconds. Feel free to change the value of crafting.hecklingDurationMultiplier in the configuration to adjust the duration according to your needs.

Notes

• Heckling fibers is an optional step, but it allows the fibers to be spun with a Spindle much easier.
