History
Tondré Alarid, a vegetable farmer in the Salinas Valley, owned land in the Santa Lucia Highlands with broccoli and lettuce fields.
1997: Began planting Pinot Noir grapes. The family called it a "grapefield" rather than a vineyard, and the name stuck. Initially sold grapes to David Bruce Winery.
2003: When winemaker Tony Craig left David Bruce, he continued sourcing grapes from Tondré for his new employers. Craig began making small quantities of wine for the Alarid family (Joe and Penny) to bottle under the Tondré label.
The wines are produced at Silver Mountain winery in the Santa Cruz Mountains, where Craig is also winemaker.
Wines
