This picturesque vineyard, also known as the Bates Ranch, constitutes literally the southern border of the Santa Cruz Mountains and has produced highly regarded Cabernets for over 30 years. In addition to bottling Cabernet Sauvignon under their own Bates Ranchlabel, the fruit is also sold to Byington,Ahlgren, and Fernwood Cellars. Bates Ranch is currently being managed by Matt Oetinger, owner of Fernwood Cellars.
