Duncaniella possess all features of the Muribaculaceae family. The least distant species based on pairwise 16S rRNA gene sequence identity is M. intestinale (90.1%). Major cellular fatty acids are C14:0 (~15%), iso-C15:0 (~24%), and anteiso-C15:0 (~35%). D. muris is one of the most dominant and prevalent Muribaculaceae species studied so far in the mouse gut (up to 6.6% relative abundance, and was found in 18% of 10,350 samples)(Lagkouvardos 2019).
