Catch book - janstehno/cotw-companion GitHub Wiki
Catch book
Catch book offers a way to save your harvests as well as trophies in your trophy lodges. It contains a way to create, edit, and delete the entries, and a more comprehensive search bar
and filter
. The feature is too complex to be used as a counter only, you can use counters for that. More information about the counters is here.
How it works
Search and filter
You can use the search bar
and filter
the same way as any other in the app. However, the filter
is more comprehensive and also contains sorting
options. The search bar
also works a little bit differently. Here, you can search for more than just one name
. You can do so by typing
a pipe |
between the names. If you don't know where to find it on your keyboard, you can always use the pipe
button on the bottom bar.
Bottom bar
Stats
This button will show an analytics screen. The analytics screen shows you how many entries you have, as well as how many entries with certain trophy ratings you have, or how many entries with certain fur rarities you have.
File
This button contains a delete-everything
option. You will be asked if you really want to do it. It will delete the whole list.
Other options are import
and export
. Import and export offers you a way to save the entries into a file on your device or upload the file from your device to the app. Even when the app saves the entries to its storage, exporting is highly recommended
as the app can, in some cases, delete them.
When exporting
or importing
the data, you will be prompted to enable access to your device's storage for the first time. The access needs to be enabled, otherwise, the app will not have the access it needs to write or read the file. You can always disable the access in the device's app settings.
Other options
View
You can also change the look of the entries in the list using the change-view
button. It changes the look of the entry. There are three options you can cycle through - expanded, semi-expanded, and compact. The app will remember all three options, so you do not have to change them every time you use the features.
Create entry
You can create an entry by tapping
the +
button on the bottom bar. The app will show you a screen with a form. In this form, you can choose date and time
, reserve
, animal
, its gender
, fur type
, weight
and trophy score
, trophy rating
, and harvest check
. To add the entry into the catch book
, you need to tap
the add
button at the bottom of the form.
You can also see the trophy lodge
entries of the same animal you have already moved to the lodge when creating the entry. You can see the list of the trophy lodge
entries by tapping
the list
button beside the trophy score
subtitle.
You can create an entry not only from the catch book
, but also from other places.

Entry
Edit entry
You can edit a created entry by swiping
it to the right
. A form like the one for creating will appear. But instead of choosing everything, the entry's properties will be shown. You can edit them the same way you select them when creating the entry.
Delete entry
You can delete an entry by double-tapping
it. When deleting an entry a snack bar
appears to inform you about the deletion. For a brief moment, you can restore the entry by tapping
the restore
button on the snack bar
.
Move entry
Entries you create can also be moved to the trophy lodge
(something like taxidermizing the animal harvest). You can do so by swiping
the entry to the left
. It can also be removed from the trophy lodge
by swiping
it the same way.
Change shown entries
The interface
section can be found in the filter. Options in this section are show-not-trophy-lodge-entries
, show-trophy-lodge-entries
, and show-entry-date
. The entry options will show the catch book
and/or trophy lodge
entries respectively. The show-date-time
option will show the date and time of the entry.
