Repair Requirements - jackeys/Power-Armor-to-the-People GitHub Wiki
With the optional repair patcher, Power Armor Repair Takes Skill (PARTS), repair requirements for power armor can be modified based on the type and tier of the power armor. This provides a clearer distinction between the types of power armor, encourages some types of power armor over others depending on your character build, and better reflects that power armor is advanced technology.
Civilian applications of power armor are less sophisticated and do not require any specific skills to repair. These include:
- Excavator Power Armor
- Construction Power Armor
- Submersible Power Armor
- Diving Power Armor
Power armor that has been improvised, with scrap metal used as armor plating, requires skill as an armorer but is crude enough to not require any scientific knowledge.

Standard power armor, such as those developed by the military before the war, require scientific knowledge in addition to skills as an armorer to repair because of their sophistication.

For characters that do not have the perks necessary to repair power armor, there are some alternatives that are provided by Power Armor to the People to maintain a set of power armor.
With Settler Vigilante power armor installed, a Vendor-O-Tronic 2000 can be built if you have Local Leader Rank 2 (available at level 14) to purchase an unlimited number of Settler Vigilante power armor at an affordable price. As such, replacement parts can be purchased instead of repairing them. These parts have a chance to be legendary as well, so there are advantages to this approach.
Power Armor to the People includes vendor integration, so it is possible to purchase replacement power armor instead of repairing it. However, more powerful sets are typically much more rare, so this approach becomes less effective for high-end power armor sets.
Power Armor to the People gives power armor to many enemies that respawn, so replacement parts can be taken from them when encountered. Place your shots well so you don't destroy the power armor piece you're hoping to use as a replacement, or get creative to force your enemy out of their power armor and keep it intact!
