Search Inpatient Direct Issue Returns
Overview
The Search Inpatient Direct Issue Returns page allows you to find pharmacy return bills created when medicines issued to inpatient BHTs were returned. This is the counterpart to the Direct Issue search — while the issue search finds what was dispensed, this search finds what was returned.

When to Use
Use this page when you need to:
- Find a specific return bill by its bill number
- Locate all returns for a particular BHT
- Review return history over a date range
- Audit pharmacy returns linked to inpatient admissions
- Verify that a return was processed correctly
How to Search
- From the main menu, go to Inpatient → Pharmacy → Search Inpatient Direct Issue Returns
- Apply one or more of the following filters:
| Filter | Description |
|---|---|
| From / To Date | Filter returns by the date range when the return bill was created |
| Bill No | Search by the return bill's department-assigned number |
| BHT No | Search by the admission's BHT number |
| Patient Name | Search by the patient's name (partial match supported) |
| Patient Phone | Search by the patient's phone number |
| Item Name | Search by the name of the returned medicine or item |
| Net Total | Filter by the net total amount of the return bill |
- Click Search Bills or Search Items depending on whether you want results grouped by bill or by individual item
- The results appear in a table
Search By Bill vs By Item
- Search by Bill — results show one row per return bill. Use this when you know the bill number or want to see the overall return transaction.
- Search by Item — results show one row per returned item. Use this when you want to find returns of a specific medicine or when tracking individual item movements.
Understanding Results
For bill-level results, each row shows:
- Bill No — the return bill number
- BHT No — the linked admission
- Patient Name — the patient
- Date — when the return was processed
- Net Total — the value of the returned items
For item-level results, each row shows:
- Item Name — the returned medicine or consumable
- Quantity — how much was returned
- Batch No — the stock batch
- Bill No — the parent return bill
Cancelled return bills are displayed in red to distinguish them from valid returns.
