FAQ

Question: UAE4ARM Amiga emulator shows a black screen when I start it?

Answer:

UAE4ARM Amiga emulator installed on Raspberry Pi OS Lite requires Fake KMS video driver is enabled otherwise it will show a black screen. See Amiga emulators for Raspberry Pi for steps to enable Fake KMS video driver.

Raspberry Pi 400 and 4 have 2 HDMI ports, try switching HDMI cable between the 2 ports. This might require rebooting the Raspberry Pi.


Question: Amiga emulator doesn't play any sound when playing a game, demo or music?

Answer:

See Install HstWB-Installer for Raspberry Pi OS Lite, Change asound card to change where sound is played: HDMI or headphones.


Question: I selected 'No' to go through first time use steps. How can I go through those steps again?

Answer:

See First time use for Raspberry Pi for first time use steps and manual start.


Question: How to I install HstWB Installer image?

Answer:

HstWB Installer image can be installed with following steps:

  1. Type hstwb and press enter to start HstWB Installer.

  1. Select Setup and press enter.

  1. Select HstWB Installer and press enter.

  1. Select Install HstWB Installer image.

This will download and unzip latest HstWB Installer image and install configuration files prepared for Amiberry and UAE4ARM to start building HstWB Installer image. WARNING: Any existing HstWB Installer image will be overwritten!


Question: When running Amiga emulator HstWB Installer image doesn't detect any Amiga OS iso or adf files?

Answer:

Amiga OS iso and adf files are installed from attached FAT32 formatted USB stick with HstWB self install files and HstWB self install mountpoint needs to be updated prior to manually starting HstWB Installer image in Amiga emulator.

Verify USB stick is properly FAT32 formatted and HstWB self install files are installed including Amiga OS and Kickstarts files as a minimum. Then retry starting HstWB Installer image.


Question: Kickstart 3.2 or 3.1.4 A1200 rom is installed instead of Kickstart 3.1 A1200 for Amiga emulators. How can HstWB Installer only install Kickstart 3.1 A1200?

Answer:

If multiple Kickstart 3.2, 3.1.4 or 3.1 A1200 files are present in HstWB self install USB stick 'Kickstart' directory, then HstWB Installer will install latest Kickstart A1200 available. To install only Kickstart 3.1 A1200, delete Kickstart 3.2, 3.1.4 A1200 rom file from HstWB self install USB stick 'Kickstart' directory.


Question: I finished running HstWB Installer image in Amiga emulator and installed Amiga OS or packages that didn't work as I expected. How to I redo building HstWB Installer image again?

Answer:

See FAQ question 'How to I install HstWB Installer image?'. This can be used to make a new installation of HstWB Installer image and build HstWB Installer image again.


Question: HstWB Installer didn't install or is not starting correctly. What can I do to fix it?

Answer:

Try uninstall and install HstWB Installer again.


Question: ClassicWB shows vertical lines in every icon. How can this be fixed?

Answer:

Amiberry running with JIT enabled can cause side-effects with components enabled in ClassicWB. From Workbench try opening Run, Settings, Components, FBlit FText and select Disable. Wait 10 seconds and reboot (Run, System, Reboot). The vertical lines in icons should disappear.
