Notes

  1. The meeting time for summer will continue to be Tuesday at 1:00 PM EDT. The schedule of dates (trying to avoid conferences) will be:

  2. There was a discussion of issues that have come up recently with respect to the build tools. There continue to be difficulties with projects getting out of sync because project managers do not always run the auto tools after a new version of the auto tools is released. It was decided that we will implement a script that will automatically run the auto tools on all relevant projects after a new version is released. Laci will work on this script. It remains to be decided whether this should be "opt out" or "opt in."

  3. It was questioned why stable/1.0 and stable/1.1 are identical. Laci stated that the changes for stable/1.1 were accidentally committed to stable/1.0 and he wasn't sure how to fix it. He will take a look at it and decide what to do. The new release was also never announced to project managers. Laci will take care of that.

  4. New mailing lists have been created and seem to be working well. Matt still needs to change the names of the lists that are not in compiance with current standards.

  5. Current submissions status:

    • Ksp: No change. Laci will bug Mary about getting a website up, which is the next step.
    • OBOE: Email'd Jean-Philippe Vial asking for userids so that the wiki can be set up.
    • DECOMP: Francisco Barahona will handle it. Currently waiting for the code to be submitted.
  6. It was decided that the TLC would jointly handle the duties of the new repository manager until they hit steady state, hopefully by the next election. At that point, we can try to identify an appropriate candidate.

  7. Standardizing the content and location of README, INSTALL, and AUTHORS files will be done as part of process of reviewing and classifying all existing projects, to be undertaken shortly.

  8. A two-day bug squashing party has been tentatively scheduled for August 9 and 10, 2007. During this time, we will attempt to squash as many bugs as possible, especially those that are cross-cutting (involve multiple projects.)

  9. Laci will be asked to head up the effort to remove dependency of unit tests on large data sets, i.e. installation verification tests.

  10. Loose ends

  • Project management guidelines are still with the SLB. It was agreed that we should just go ahead and post them anyway.
  • It was decided that we will switch to the mod-Python log-in as soon as possible.
