African lake cichlids are ambient freshwater fish. Colorful, easy to breed, and easy to keep in captivity, they are the best friend of any exhibit designer.

In real life, african lake cichlids are diverse specialists, beloved by both new and veteran aquarists for their feisty personalities and bright colors. There are hundreds of species across just a few lakes in East Africa.

Spawning and taming

African lake cichlids are uncommon spawn in ponds, lakes and other water features in wet savanna biomes. They always spawn in schools of 5-6 fish.

As ambient, neutral animals, they can be picked up without issue. They can also be picked up in a bucket.

African lake cichlids cannot be tamed, but are still perfect for your exhibits anyways! As medium speed animals, it may take you a couple tries.

Care

African lake cichlids have 2 hearts (4 points) of health, can deal 0 hearts of damage, and drop raw cichlid upon death.

As ambient animals, they do not need specialized care.

African lake cichlids can be bred with wheat seeds.

Usage

Cichlid is a food item obtained from African lake cichlids when killed, and is part of several diets to feed tamed animals.

Variants

There are 12 species variants of African lake cichlid, although only 8 (electric yellow cichlid, red zebra cichlid, demason cichlid, maingano cichlid, dogtooth cichlid, pemba flame cichlid, flameback cichlid, and duboisi cichlid) will spawn in your world.
