The giant panda is a medium bear. Native to east Asia.

Giant pandas are super rare spawns in temperate alpine biomes. They spawn alone. Male and females are equally likely to spawn, and are not sexually dimorphic.

The pandas are a slow, defensive animal; they will acknowledge players, but not attack them unless hit.

Giant pandas can be captured and transported with either capture nets or capture cages.

Giant pandas can be tamed with herbivore kibble.

Giant pandas have 12 hearts (24 points) of health, can deal 2 hearts (4 points) of damage, and drop 1 medium meat and 1 bone upon death.

Giant pandas are medium animals with moderate food needs. They eat a bamboo diet, consisting solely of bamboo.

Giant pandas can use boomer ball, scented ball, scratching post, puzzle feeder and apple ice treat enrichment items.

Giant pandas are a low fertility species, and can be bred with yellow bamboo. As medium-sized animals they have a gestation time of 56000 ticks, and give birth to 1-2 cubs that will take 4 2/3 minecraft days to reach adulthood.

Giant pandas are a rare treasure in zoos, and players are lucky to have them. They are a high-traffic, high-demand species that guests will definitely want to see, and are docile enough that many of the cute, cuddly bears can be kept together - but be mindful, and give each bear enough space to itself. Even though they are slow-moving and lazy, pandas will still need space to roam and play.

While they're cute and clumsy, pandas are still bears, and act like carnivores. They should not be housed in mixed-species exhibits, except for fish in a pond or moat.

Pandas are not good climbers, and cannot scale fences or open doors. They can be contained with most fences: wire fences are good for visibility, steel fences for classic zoos, and even bamboo fences for a topical themed barrier. Since guests will want to see pandas, glass viewing windows are also a great option.

Pandas are playful animals, and like all other zoo animals benefit from enrichment in their enclosure. They like to scale climbing structures (but cannot climb rope or scale wood blocks), roll scented balls around and lick apple ice treats. As a cute treats for both pandas and guests, zookeepers can hand-feed bamboo to the bears, which they will sit down and hold in their paws to eat.

While known for eating exclusively bamboo, pandas cannot eat through or destroy bamboo or bamboo decor blocks, so they are a fun, matching option for zoo builders. Try vanilla bamboo for a classic look, or black for a moody, modern look.

Pandas generally do not try to escape enclosures and do not pose any immediate danger to guests or zookeepers as long as they are well-cared for. However, as defensive animals, they can attack and kill keepers if they are neglected. Players should prepare for worst-case scenarios by building safe feeding doors and airlock doors.

Giant pandas have 2 natural variants: Shang Dynasty, and Qin Dynasty. Tang Dynasty, a brown variant, is breed-only and does not spawn naturally.
