The there are two distinct analyses in the paper - an empirical analysis and a theoretical work explaining the observed pattern. The empirical analysis is inference of transposable element (TE) loads in yeast. We used the sequencing data generated in an experiment in [controlled environment]] by McDonald et al.. We further developed a [theoretical model suggesting an explanation of the data. The model is based on the model by Dolgin and Charlesworth.
