Bao

Bao is Jang-mi's doppelgänger, specifically chosen as a decoy for assassination attempts. Jang-mi was dismayed to learn that (1) Bao is Chinese, and (2) most white people cannot tell them apart. In spite of Jang-mi's cold reception, Bao did make a serious effort to learn her mannerisms and improve her grasp of English. This came to save Jang-mi in the end when she and Colleen were successfully used as decoys during the breakout orchestrated by Kelly.

Benji

Benjamin Rivera is a member of the LA Pack. His EDS gives him hypermobility, which he likes to use to scratch his head with his foot. It also affects his circulation, leading him to constantly wear paw-shaped gloves and furred boots to keep his extremities warm.

Charis

Charis owns a McMansion near Taqfleck that she inherited from her parents. She has converted it into a halfway home for cachaemites, who often struggle to integrate into Licentia. After she was bitten by a cachaemite-zeitgabber staying at her place, Charis' attitude for Licentia shifted from "I guess this is the best society cachaemites can hope for" to "this is the future, Zero is a genius, and I would die for this." Her newfound enthusiasm has been met with mixed reactions from the cachaemites in her care.

Like many cachaemites, Charis has a small coven of non-cachaemites that she regularly feeds from. It currently consists of Rayyan and Priscilla.

Cipher

Leader of the LA Pack and Watchdog's boyfriend. Under his guidance, the LA Pack became less of a gang and more of a fraternal organization. Nevertheless, he is more than capable of throwing down if necessary.

Cipher is one of the tallest people around, standing at over seven feet tall thanks to xenoexpression. Only Corbin, who pushes xenoexpression to its absolute limits, is thought to be able to get taller than him without major circulatory issues. (In terms of "natural" height however, Big Eoin would be taller.)

Colleen

Colleen Taube is a doppelgänger for Zero to throw off hypothetical assassins or (very real) police officers. Currently in hiding until the statue of limitations for aiding in a prison escape expire, although in her defense, Kelly put her up to it.

Cúdorchaidhe

Cú was an anonymous 2018 Christmas gift for Zero. The shaggy pup quickly grew massively and is now reaching the end of his expected lifespan as an Irish wolfhound.

Daoirse

Heavy is the head...

Dextrose

A member of the Sunrise Club, and possibly the last person to see Sven alive. Sven is also probably the last person to see Dextrose alive.

Eoin, Big

The son of Zero and a certain Migakaze, and the fraternal twin of Big Gráinne. He is not from any of the three main timelines, and has not made his reason for showing up in this timeline clear. Quiet and a bit mysterious, he prefers to let his sister steal the spotlight -- and she is more than happy to oblige. That being said, it is known that he can summon a kusarigama into his hands, so he clearly has some grasp of magic and combat, in spite of not having a pulse.

Extremely tall (more than 7 feet) and lanky due to Marfan Syndrome. Dirty blonde hair. Brown eyes, which do not match either of his purported parents. Abnormally pale.

Eoin, Little

The son of Zero and a certain Migakaze, and the fraternal twin of Little Gráinne. Seems to exist in a state of superposition between alive and dead.

Lighter blonde hair than Big Eoin and currently lacks Marfanoid characteristics (except the heart problems). Brown eyes, which do not match either of his purported parents.

Erin

A doppelgänger for Zero, now mostly know for being incredibly talented at xenoexpression. Although physically similar to Zero and possessing that same charisma, Erin has darker hair and often wears designer clothing. When not training, Erin can usually be found with Tyler, searching Vegas for any wayward infected or, ahem, practicing agorism.

Erin is specially trained to avoid falling into a RAASC. If you need an infected to make it through a slaughterhouse without drooling on the floor, Erin is your woman.

Ethan

One of the Ten Thousand Founders and a bit of a political celebrity. Ethan was once the youngest delegate in all of Taqfleck, taking office at the age of 16. He became a figurehead for dissenting voices within Taqfleck thanks to his economically right wing views and his passion for debate. Although occasionally ridiculed for his tendency to wear too-large suits and his inexperience, he grew into his clothes and his role with time. No longer a delegate, Ethan runs a thriving marijuana dispensary in Los Caídos called the Green Eagle, which includes not just the typical products but also his own exclusive strains. Do not take his politics to mean he does not care for his fellow infected — the Green Eagle exclusively hires infected and he gives a portion of the profits back to Licentia's coffiers. Nevertheless, he is viewed with suspicion among some of Licentia's leftists.

Firebrand

AKA: Wendy of Salvo

In the early days of Taqfleck, food shortages were a huge problem. The neighborhood of Salvo conspired to steal and hoard food for themselves. When caught, the commune began enraged. Deciding that some sort of punitive action was needed to prevent violent acts of revenge, the council debated how to handle the situation. The ringleader of the theft, Wendy, made a case for her own execution in hopes it would save the rest of Salvo from collective punishment. It was ultimately decided that Wendy would be hot-branded on the face and the rest of Salvo would be assigned unpopular construction tasks. Salvo rallied around the branded woman and immediately recalled their delegate to replace him with Wendy. Firebrand, as she is now called today, still sits on the council, her disfigured face an uncomfortable reminder of the council's actions.

This is not say Firebrand is uncooperative or that Salvo is still seen as dishonorable. Tempers have cooled, and the people of Salvo are proud of the housing they have constructed. (Firebrand herself has retired from construction and now works in Taqfleck's nursery.) Most people in Taqfleck joined well after this incident anyway and are not aware of the full story. But among the Ten Thousand Founders, there is often an undercurrent of tension.

To Zero's dismay, "Auntie Fi" has a strong connection with Little Eoin. This isn't just a social connection — Firebrand appears to have a deeper understanding of his "episodes" than even Zero, but the exact nature of them still escapes her understanding.

Gemma McGuire

Rosemary the Younger's eccentric sister, who has fallen out with other family members for unknown reasons. Fan of the color purple and silly hats.

Gráinne, Big

Heir apparent to the Migakaze clan and the fraternal twin of Big Eoin. Although she is blind and caries a cane, she appears to be capable of detecting where people are located, and is thought to have some concept of color based on how she dresses herself. It is unknown if her timeline has a Síle (like Daoirse's timeline) or if Síle died in utero (like Zero's timeline). As is typical among Migakazes, she has a fierce determination, an outgoing personality, and great physical power. She is finding some difficulty balancing her sociality with her need for secrecy. Indeed, she has said almost nothing about her timeline.

Average height, athletic build. Dirty blonde hair, but a little bit lighter than her brother's. Tiger ears and tail. Golden eyes, matching those of her father. When angry, Big Gráinne takes on what appears to be static electricity as her hair and clothes shift around her body.

Gráinne, Little

Fraternal twin of Little Eoin. Legally blind, but makes up for it by being very loud. She can see blobs of color and enjoys purple ("purp") the most.

Has tiger ears, a tail, and far more strength and energy than she should. Dirty blonde hair, but a little bit lighter than her brother's. Golden eyes, matching those of her father. Likely in your walls.

Hawk

Gray-hat hacker who was elected chief delegate of Licentia after Zero stepped down. Facially disfigured by the hero of Los Caídos, but very highly respected. Over the years the scarring has gone down somewhat.

James

Jargor

Jargor is an "Enlightened" who was opposed to Síle. Although he is a better person than Síle, he is convinced of his own importance and seeks to fill the power vacuum Síle's death has caused. Nevertheless, he has been trying to do so carefully to avoid drawing the attention of Jang-mi the Elder.

Jang-mi the Younger

Main article: JmtY
Zero's long-term girlfriend, although they have been known to "take breaks" in the past. Acerbic to the point of being off-putting, Jang-mi has slowly been learning the art of charisma and conversation from her partner, which seems to have paid off in her being elected the mayor of Los Caídos in a surprise victory. But if you're not her constituent, she'll probably show you no love.

Jang-mi the Elder

Main article: JmtE
Has no blood relation to the D'arcys, but seems to always be attached to one. She is from the same timeline as Daoirse and spends most of her time hunting down people from her timeline who have made it into the main timeline. Significantly less uptight than her main timeline counterpart, Jang-mi the Elder is generally easier to get along with, as long as you are entertaining.

Jellylegs

A shaky-legged ally of Zero from a university's quasi-anarchist commune. The z-virus generally causes people to either stay put or wander when in a RAASC, but Jellylegs has the unique effect of having leg tremors instead. True to his name, he shies away from physical combat, but is not afraid of hit-and-run property damage.

Isabella

In 2014, Isabella offered to take her roommate and a mutual friend to SFO airport.

KaratukiNumemon

The screaming card dealer of the Shakomon cave.

Kelly "Rambo" Connors

Kelly was the first of Zero's doppelgängers. Originally shy, Kelly's personality shifted to extroversion and obsession after a head-and-face injury at Zero's hands. Kelly is now completely devout to Zero, going so far as to break her out of jail, for which Kelly served two years in prison.

Kelly can easily be identified by the red bandana she wears around her cracked skull, which has earned her the nickname Rambo. Although happy-go-lucky most of the time, she gets frustrated easily, and is well-aware of the fact that her TBI has left her unable to perform certain tasks.

KingShakomon

An unusually powerful Shakomon who lives in a sea cave alongside several other Shakomon and a KaratukiNumemon. KingShakomon is protective of his people and has given the very shell off his back to them, now residing in the skull of a deactivated Mugendramon.

Kuneho Galang

Soft in more ways than one. Like her brother, she has brown fur across her body, but her ears more like that of a lop bunny. Formerly a medic who helped in the early days of Taqfleck back when there was almost no doctors in the commune, Kuneho is now a nurse practitioner. She is quite friendly although not particularly outgoing, but people who associate with Zero are unlikely to see this side of her.

Kuneho testified against Zero's continued status as an affiliate of Licentia when Zero nearly killed Kelly in a fit of rage, and again after the Zeromorph incident. Although Zero ultimately made a successful case for reintroduction, the two have yet to bury the hatchet. As a precaution, Kuneho had Licentia's equivalent of a no-contact order placed on Zero, meaning that the two are more or less unable to interact directly. Kuneho also has a rocky relationship with Kelly. Kelly does not know that Kuneho made a case against Zero after the Zeromorph incident, but as Kelly was coming out of her coma, she did hear some comments Kuneho made against Zero. It is thanks to Kelly insisting on keeping incident private that very few people know that Zero broke Kelly's skull. Ultimately, Kuneho feels terrible for Kelly, and (correctly) assumes Zero feels guilty about the situation -- but does not want to risk a confrontation to find out for sure.

Layla

A high schooler present during Shaw's battle against Jargor. She is the only member of her social group to avoid becoming infected.

Leichu

A non-infected ABC who spent most of her life in Oakland, but moved to Los Caídos with her family as the outbreak of the Z-virus caused general disruption in the Bay Area. Leichu became homeless a few years ago after a mental breakdown, and currently lives in a small encampment under a highway offramp on the Eastside. She can be recognized by her dark green fingerless gloves, which she wears year-round over chain-mail gloves, and greasy hair. Like many homeless non-infected, Leichu carries pepper spray, although the legality of this is dubious due to the specifics of California law so she does not carry it openly.

Leichu has a strategy of being fake-friendly with strangers. Around people she's used to, she tends to radiate misery. Leichu knows and respects Dr Lioncaster via LCNE, but is openly hostile to most infected. Leichu's closest friend is a non-infected schizophrenic named Kelly.

Liam Balogun

liam

Liam is a former Kerryman-turned-BART-engineer who got infected not long after the Millbrae Massacre. He fled the Bay Area as soon as he could, taking refuge in Los Caídos where he would eventually become one of the Ten Thousand Founders of Taqfleck. Liam is a bit of a microcelebrity among metalworkers in Licentia due to a longstanding inside joke where new equipment, materials, and techniques would be tested by making a trophy for Liam.

Lioncaster, M.D.

Medical personnel are common in Licentia nowadays, but it wasn't always like this. Before Dr. Rads, before Dr. Mendoza, before even Kuneho -- there was Dr. Lioncaster. The only general practitioner among the Ten Thousand Founders, Lioncaster mastered control over her RAASC, effectively turning herself from a cycler to a carrier. She would spend almost every waking hour keeping Taqfleck from becoming a humanitarian disaster. The stress resulted in (depending on which psychologist you ask) bipolar disorder, brief reactive psychosis, nerve damage, a mutation in the Z-virus, and/or perfectly healthy coping mechanisms. The general consensus is that she can force herself into hypomania in the same way that some infected can force themselves into a RAASC. Prior to this, however, Lioncaster nearly died from the stress. It is rumored that Dr. Lioncaster was involved in a murder during the early days of Taqfleck, but was not meaningfully punished due to being indispensable.

In spite of what her surname may imply, Dr. Lioncaster has no feline traits and is incapable of xenoexpression.

Liyebre Galang

Kuneho's younger brother. Easier to recognize due to his light brown fur, slender build, and hare-like ears. Liyebre is rather quiet, but quite observant, preferring to be on the edges of conversation rather than directly involved or being alone. He is a guard for Licentia, but as Lolo knows, not a very good one. He appears to have been "adopted" by the LA Pack.

Liyebre is partially responsible for popularizing betel nut as a hunger suppressant among a sizable minority of zeitgabberim in Taqfleck.

Maximillian

"It can't be nonsense if someone went to the trouble to printing it all out."

A Gerbemon who lives in a sea cave. His section of the cave occasionally receives data from the "real world" which manifests as random objects. Unfortunately, this includes an issue of the New York Post, which has now become the sole source of his political theory.

Mendoza, M.D.

A 45-year-old doctor with small spikes on her skin. She is mute due to mutations of her mouth, which occurred during food shortages in the early days of Taqfleck. This doctor turned to entomophagy, but unlike most other infected, she involuntarily xenoexpressed due to the immense workload of being one of the very few available doctors. Attempts to reverse the xenoexpression have proved futile, in part due to her steadfast refusal to engage in cannibalism. While losing the ability to effectively speak put her in a crisis, she has long since made peace with her fate. She still practices medicine in Taqfleck under the name Dr. Elizabeth Mendoza, but (begrudgingly) responds to Mantis.

Dr. Mendoza is not exactly proud of her palpi and does not eat in front of other people. But if you ask nicely, or if it's Halloween, she will let you see them.

Michael D'arcy, PhD-MD

Formerly a man of singular focus and great ambition, Michael D'arcy began studying the nascent field of genedrugs as soon as he was able. His research became personal as his daughter developed debilitating panic attacks and his youngest son was diagnosed with ADHD. His efforts lead to the development of Rumase, designed to treat panic disorders like the one plaguing his beloved daughter. Although she ultimately did not receive the treatment due to a sudden reduction in her symptoms, he nevertheless was proud of being able to help thousands of people suffering from anxiety. After the Millbrae Massacre changed the world, Michael's life completely spiraled out of control. Disgraced and convinced that his invention killed the person he made it for, Michael was hospitalized for a suicide attempt and has since been supported largely by his wife and oldest son.

Nyx

A genetic clone of Zero created during the Zeromorph incident. About four feet tall and winged.

Pekartok

The scrawny coyote-teen that "Silverback" defeated. Pekartok is still in high school, so he is not always with his pack. He has difficulty removing his xenoexpression and sometimes has issues at school because of this, but the bullying has lessened once he started biting people.

Perla

Perla, like Jellylegs, has a unique reaction to the Z-virus. It has made her fundamentally incapable of fear, even if her life is in mortal danger. She additionally tends to not take matters very seriously, making her difficult to get along with in many scenarios. This plus an apparent lack of empathy has lead to her being labeled a sociopath. Nevertheless, she helped shelter Zero and Jang-mi after their prison break.

Pierre

"I know there's infected up there, but I can't go back to San Francisco. Someone in the city is looking for me. Yeah, the feds and the mercs are bad enough like, but this guy is-- Look. It's personal. If I ever see him again, I will not hesitate to kill him. But he's gonna see me first."

"Look, pal, it's bad enough dealing with the normal people Zee's pissed off. Kuneho, her brother, half the damn country... There ain't nothing normal about that bastard. Don't get me wrong, he's got no magic, no super strength, no xenoexpression. But he don't need any of that shit to be dangerous."

"Comrades? He doesn't deserve that word. Listen, kid, my last name wasn't always Riot. It was Jackson. I'm not going to pretend I was totally innocent. But he never put himself in harm's way. Might have preached about survival of the fittest, but he basically had a desk job while I was out there risking my life. He's a hypocrite of the highest order. Not to mention how he treated the people he was closest to..."

Priscilla

The non-cachaemite cook at Charis' halfway house. Previously a stoner who most just wandered Dallas aimlessly, Priscilla had a personality shift after nearly dying in a car crash. Her talent for making good snacks while high has become an obsession with the relationship zeitgabberim (stoners or otherwise) have with food. Her goal was to develop a diet plan for zeitgabberim that maximizes their happiness and power without giving them the heart disease that plagues her people. To that end, she previously worked with AthPro, but Priscilla is largely disconnected from the program now due to her attempts to access confidential records. For the time being, she's laying low at Charis' halfway house, and they are very happy to have her. But she has loftier ambitions than cooking for a dozen people, especially when all those people ever seem to want to eat is black pudding.

Although fellow non-cachaemite Rayyan enjoys being drained by the cachaemites at the halfway house, Priscilla will only allow this from Charis. This unwillingness presents a necessary challenge for some of the extremely-high-hunger cachaemites trying to relearn how to live among non-cachaemites. For this reason she is one of the few zeitgabberim who carries pepper spray.

Proliferator, The

An alien-like beast which arose from the Zeromorph incident. The Proliferator technically shares all of Zero's genome at the time of the Zeromorph incident, and is capable of telepathic communication with her. The Proliferator's goal is, as the name implies, to proliferate.

Rads, N.P.

Rads is a "frequent flyer" of Taqfleck's medical system, thanks to long-term health problems caused by radiation exposure. He decided he wanted to give back, and after careful testing of his radiation levels, got approval to begin studying as a nurse (on the condition he continues to wear lead-lined clothing). He is now a fully fledged nurse practitioner.

Rads was formerly a thrall of Jargor, but defected almost immediately upon arrival into this timeline.

Rayyan

Rayyan's dislike of large crowds makes it difficult for him to live among zeitgabberim in a commune, but he has found an odd niche in Chairs' halfway home. Originally one the few non-cachamite clients of the home due to his criminal record, Rayyan now lives the househusband dream. It is rumored he has a dark secret, but most people stop digging once they find out about the passed-around-by-cachaemites thing.

Rosemary the Elder

Main article: Rosemary the Elder
Daoirse's mother was born off the coast of Antrim, where she quickly became involved in "political organizing." While swimming with her friends in Galway Bay, Rosemary had a chance meeting with an irritating man who accidentally stole something rather necessary for her continued social status. The couple nevertheless put down roots in Salthill, where they had three children.

Rosemary the Elder has a very strong accent, and slurs her words slightly due to having a stroke several years ago. Only a handful of people can consistently understand her.

A handful of people have recently learned that Rosemary the Elder is a shapeshifting fae. Most people in Taqfleck do not know this truth, but word of a whimsical seal hanging out around the commune is spreading quickly.

Rosemary the Younger

Zero's mother was born Rosemary McGuire in Co. Antrim, where she quickly became involved in "political organizing." While helping transport "supplies" from Galway Bay, Rosemary had a chance meeting with an impressive man who claimed to want to save the world. The couple eventually put down roots in Salthill, where they had three children.

Saoirse

This is the legal name of Daoirse, Sleepy, and Zero. This wiki uses their nicknames to avoid confusion, but other characters may refer to them by this name.

Sean

Síle

Main article: Síle

Sips

Sips is an elderly zeitgabber who lives in a distillery in San Francisco. She happened to stumble upon Zero several years ago, taking her under her slightly uneven wing and nursing her back to health. In spite of being a rare solitary zeitgabber, she is quite friendly, she simply prefers to live alone.

Sleepy

Main article: Sleepy
The mundane counterpart of Zero, currently stuck in Daoirse's body. Spends her time snoozing, consuming Dragon Ball fan content, and tinkering with computer programs.

Stonewall

A US Army veteran who met Zero in San Francisco. Currently helps manage AthPro. It is said that he and Zero share a secret about their time in San Francisco. Whatever that secret may be, the two seem to get along together, so it can't be too terrible, right?

Sven

Formerly living on the streets, Sven briefly to secure an apartment in the Tenderloin with his good friend Watchdog. Sven insisted on helping the half-conscious college student who wandered up to them with a hole in her throat. As society fell in around them, the three were soon evicted and Sven once more took to the streets, teaching his friends all the tricks he knows and encouraging them to be good people even when surrounded by so much chaos. But for all of his knowledge and good intentions, he ultimately could not save himself.

Tackle

Taqfleck once had an even number of neighborhoods, and also needed someone to represent the commune diplomatically. To solve this problem, the office of chief delegate was created. Some friction arose when it was realized this meant whichever neighborhood the chief delegate lived in would get double representation, but these fears were assuaged when the chief delegate turned out to be Zero, meaning the coastal slums of Salthill got two delegates... slums whose normal delegate was Tackle, a conservative middle-aged man who disagreed with Zero on almost everything.

Their rivalry was often very tense, with both of them prone to passionate anger, and both generally well-respected and seen as morally upstanding by most of Licentia. Their arguments sometimes got too intense for others to watch, leading to the creation of Taqfleck's tradition of tossing two people onto a boat with fishing equipment and not letting them back onto shore until they have come to an agrement (or at least calmed down). Zero was secretly glad that Tackle, and to a lesser extent Ethan, kept her from being surrounded by yesmen.

Tackle died during one of Cybil's attacks on Taqfleck and is considered a martyr. His son did step up as neighborhood delegate for a while, but ultimately decided he would prefer a less political life of laying down crab traps.

Tyler

Tyler and Erin patrol the streets of Las Vegas for "stray" infected, seeking to find them before health officials can. This way, the Z-virus remains out of the local public consciousness. Tyler was previously the more physically imposing "bodyguard," but seems to have some sort of long-term illness eating away at them. Nevertheless, they are said to be one of the best xenoexpressors in Licentia, although not on the same level as Erin.

Watchdog

Zero's oldest friend from the Bay Area. It was Watchdog who first found Zero wandering about and who guided her back to the apartment he shared with Sven, and it was Watchdog who stayed by her side through all matter of chaos. Although they are no longer traveling together, Zero and Watchdog remain close allies and occasionally go bowling. Watchdog has to let Zero win, or else she gets upset.

Watchdog is dating Cipher, although the two try to keep their relationship hidden for their own safety.

William

Former chief delegate of the Dallas commune. Conveniently died in a car crash before he could euthanize the Romeros.

Zero

Who's this asshole?
