The rent (where gods fought)...blurred into Therent when it became a country, not just a region.
The Scar in its center as well as the quick changes in biome give it its name… in truth the scar was seared forever when the first great mages of two legs destroyed the ethereal portal (agxer gxa Daruil, portal to the true beginning in draconian. The portal had existed for many years, generally not a problem, although aether creatures would find their way into this plane.. Partly a show of force, but this was after increased attacks by ethereal..
Not known what created the portal. This knowledge itself is not common and difficult to find.
Currently “peacetime”, though skirmish with western neighbors.. Northern borderlands are now uninhabited, another country is north after some mountains though. Mostly seafaring communication between the two.
Light rule; taxes are few, recruitment is small. Governed out of Havercastle (naming is hard) Memories of harsher days exist for the older folk (> 100 y/o)
Currently year 273 of the Valdrin Dynasty; wars fought, rulers change, year system resets… Queen Maren (mare in) Valdrin, currently ruling, age 58.
