Description

Sawmill is a multiblock machine used to process logs into lumber and other products.

Construction

Construct a saw mill by placing a Rolling Track between two Saw Boxes.

Operation

The sawmill output is decided by the configuration of the saw boxes. Because the rolling rack placed between the saw boxes turns the log 90 degrees, the order is not relevant.

Saw blades made of Wrought Iron or better are required. Better material enables faster operation.

Right click a saw box while the sawmill power source is off to configure it. Place a saw blade to any or all of the 5 positions. Position 1 and 5 should always be occupied, to cut the very sides of the log.

Saw blades take damage as they cut logs. Damaged blades need to me removed and replaced manually.

If the configuration of the saws matches no available recipe or when a saw blade breaks, no logs will enter the sawmill.

Over time, during the operation, saw dust is created - 1 per active saw for each processed log.

Power

A sawmill is powered by mechanism, by connecting a powered axle to the bottom or a side of the central block.

The speed of the axle rotation determines the speed of the operation, but it must not exceed the speed limit given by the material of the saw blades.

Higher speeds also put more load on the mechanism system.

Block interaction

A saw mill will interact with hoppers, similar devices and other inventories.

  • Input material can be pulled from a hopper pointing at the front of the sawmill.
  • Output material is ejected from the rear of the sawmill and can be collected with a hopper.
  • Saw dust can be collected into a chest below each saw box.

Recipes

Input Output 1st Box 2nd Box
Log 8x Lumber 1,2,3,4,5 1,3,5
Log 4x Support 1,3,5 1,3,5
Log 4x Board 1,2,3,4,5 1,5

Notes

  • Prior to a Sawmill, Logs can be cut into material via Woodworking.
