Description
Processing surface allows one kind of material to be turned into another with the repeated use of a tool, similar to the TFC Leather Rack.
Construction
Place a valid item on a valid surface to create the Processing Surface.
Usage
Right click the Processing Surface while holding a valid tool to process the input material. The progress is shown visually on the block, as well as textually if WAILA is installed.
Right click with empty hand while sneaking to retrieve the material, whether it is finished or not. Partially processed material is retrieved in its original state and any progress made is lost.
Different input materials may take different amount of effort, and thus time and tool durability, to process. For example, it takes less effort to process a small hide than a medium or a large one.
The material of the tool that is used to process the material affects the amount of effort needed to process the input material. For example, bronze tools will process input material faster than stone tools.
Scraping
Scraping is used to remove flesh from soaked hides and dehairing fur.
Valid scraping tools are as follows:
- Knives
- Hand Axe
Valid scraping surfaces are as follows:
- Thick horizontal logs
- Stacked horizontal logs
- Raw stone

TFC Compatibility
By default, the TFC Tanning Rack is created when a soaked hide is placed down. If you want to use Processing Surface for scrapping soaked hides, set the value of crafting.enableProcessingSurfaceLeatherRackOverride
to true
in the configuration.
Notes
- Processing surface recipes are listed in NEI if installed
- It is advantageous to use better quality tools for processing, instead sticking to stone tools, to get the work done faster
- Certain items can be placed anywhere in the world as Decorative Surface, however they cannot be processed unless the surface is valid for the recipe.
