Description

Birch Bark Sheet is a large piece of cleaned Birch Bark.

Recipe

Craft a piece of Birch Bark together with a knife to extract a Birch Bark Sheet.

A Birch Bark Sheet can be cut into various materials and parts that can be sewn together to make birch bark equipment. Right click with a stack of 1 or more Birch Bark Sheet to open the knapping GUI. A knife in the inventory is required.

Birch Bark Strap

Cut a Birch Bark Sheet into 3 Birch Bark Straps.

A Birch Bark Strap can be used in various sewing recipes and to make a very effective Birch Bark Kindling.

Birch Bark Patch

Cut a Birch Bark Sheet into 4 Birch Bark Patches.

A Birch Bark Patch can be used to repair some Birch Bark equipment.

Birch Bark Bag

Cut a Birch Bark Sheet into two Birch Bark Bag Pieces.

Sew together two Birch Bark Bag Pieces and one Birch Bark Strap to make a Birch Bark Bag.

A Birch Bark Bag is functionally identical to a hide and leather bag, but it is less durable than a hide bag even.

A damaged Birch Bark Bag can be repaired with a Birch Bark Patch and a threaded needle.

Birch Bark Cup

Cut a Birch Bark Sheet into one Birch Bark Cup Piece.

Sew a Birch Bark Cup Piece with a Birch Bark Strap to make an Unfinished Birch Bark Cup.

Combine Unfinished Birch Bark Cup with a Slime Ball to make an Birch Bark Cup.

A Birch Bark Cup has the capacity of 250mB and it can be filled up with any consumable liquid, including fresh water from the world.

Birch Bark Shoes

Cut a Birch Bark Sheet into one pair of Birch Bark Shoes.

Birch Bark Shoes have the same durability as straw equipment but the protection they provide is equivalent to that of linen equipment. They provide better surface walking speed bonuses than straw sandals, but not as good as leather boots and they do not grant walking speed bonus from worn linen or cotton socks.

Damaged Birch Bark Shoes can be repaired with a Birch Bark Strap and a threaded needle.

Notes

• Unlike glass and ceramic containers, a Birch Bark Cup is fall resistant, hence the expensive Slime Ball requirement, which works as glue, something that actually might be required to keep the cup from leaking.
• Birch Bark Shoes are typically plaited from strips of Birch Bark, so the simulation of making them is rather simplified here.
• Although the model used for Birch Bark Shoes is the same as that of Leather Boots, as expected from shoes, only feet coverage is provided.

Known Issues

• There is currently an error with TFC+ that causes the game to crash, when an addon is uninstalled while any clothes, shoes or armor added by the addon are still being worn. Make sure you are not wearing Birch Bark Shoes if you decide to uninstall this addon. If this happens, you might need to revert your save to the backup just created by Forge when missing items and blocks were detected.

Future Features

• It will be possible to craft a Birch Bark Box that is functionally similar to a chest.
• It will be possible to craft an improved version of the Birch Bark Bag that is more durable.
