z Homebrew FPV - terrytaylorbonn/auxdrone GitHub Wiki

I recently designed and built at home (with no assistance) my first drone (shown below in flight at home on my workbench... don't try this at home :) ).

NOTE: This drone is meant to be a test platform. My focus is on configuring various components (comm links), not on making FPV drone videos. The plywood frame gives me the elbow room I need and allows me to add and move around components in the future as required. I will add a PI5. I might add an FPV cam and VTX in the future.

For details see the following docs on my Gdrive 8_eth_drone (these docs became part of a new project 8_eth_drone).

============================================================================

Previously, the docs for this project were here.

  • FRP2_1_fpv_3_nucleo_v03_24.0401.docx. Tried to use BetaFlight to configure a dev board (NUCLEO-F446RE), but could not get it to enter boot mode. In any, this doc provides a great overview of the STM32 dev tools.
  • FRP2_2_kiwi_quad_build_v03_24.0401.docx. I should get my SpeedyBee FC/ESC stack on 24.0402. Will then try to configure in BetaFlight. This document is my summary of the best youtube do-it-yourself video for FPV drones that I have seen.
  • FRP2_2a_other_quad_builds_v01_24.0401.docx. Other build info, potpourri.
  • FRP2_2b_RC-TX_RP1-RX_v22_24.0401.docx. The RC-TX to receiver connection is an EXTREMELY complex process that is laughably poorly defined in ALL youtube videos and docs I have wasted days on. I will try to really document the process.
  • FRP2_3_pi_cameras_v02_24.0331.docx. Short camera demos. Timing.
  • FRP2_3_tx12_win11_mp_fly_ubuntu_sitl_6c_v03_24.0401. Win11 MP + RC TX-12 (Joystick mode) + Ubuntu SITL. Tests.
