I spent a lot of time confused by basic FPV drone concepts. Only to discover that my confusion was because the basic tech concepts were explained rather "sparingly" (if at all) by the experts and product docs (that I found). So on 24.0520 I started writing my own tech concept overviews.

As of 24.0522, the only tech overview I have written is "#5 RC <> RX <> FC" (7a_tech_overview_#5_RC-RX-FC_v02_24.0522_.docx). I was totally confused by the RC/RX configuration docs. I spent perhaps in total a week in confusion trying to figure things out. I was confused because of complex UI designs, incorrect terms, and Youtube expert videos that never explained the basic concepts. My doc (draft) explains the entire comm chain from the RC buttons/display to the FC.

The docs/diagram listed below basically show the 10 tech configurations. Note the following:

  • Dont underestimate the complexity of #1 frame and #2 battery; I did).
  • One reason I first used a plywood frame becomes apparent in the diagram below, namely all components (except the ESC under the FC) are clearly visible and accessed easily).

  • Flight 4 (you dont need to do this)

      • Tuning (Eztune, PID tuning, advanced tuning, motor mixer, logging, mixer),

      • Adjustments, alignment tool,
      • LED strip, sensors, tethered logging, blackbox.
