Phase 4 — Study Direction (Work in Progress)

My primary interest is using AI tools to build practical AI systems. I want to learn how to do this as efficiently and realistically as possible, knowing that methods and tools will continue to evolve. I would like to leverage my language skills (Russian, German, Chinese, Hebrew) where useful — for research, documentation, communication, or international collaboration. A key technical focus is understanding how JEPA-style world models can be applied in real systems.

Guiding Principles

Focus on realistic applications based on a clear understanding of current AI capabilities and limits.

  • Some AI systems already exceed human performance in specific narrow tasks (pattern recognition, search, optimization, signal processing).
  • Modern AI is based on large-scale computation and function approximation, which can resemble certain low-level automatic behaviors seen in biological systems.
  • However, current AI systems do not possess consciousness, subjective experience, emotions, or biological senses.
  • Claims that intelligence arises purely from increasing computation are historically recurring; reality is more complex and involves representation, learning, environment, and embodiment.
  • JEPA and similar approaches may significantly improve AI systems by enabling better prediction, world modeling, and planning, but the long-term path toward human-level intelligence remains uncertain.

  • Build usable, real-world AI tools
  • Document findings clearly (wiki, docx, videos, writing)
