It took me more than a month to get the Ardupilot simulation running. But I got the basics (simulation, see chapter (5) of the word doc) up and running, including OS setup and ROS, in 10 hours.

PX4 appears to be quite a bit more professional and easier to use than Ardupilot. I had gotten the opposite impression from several authoritative info sources. The only advantage of Ardupilot was the Intelligent Quads youtube series. All I found so far for PX4 is a getting started (not easy to follow).

I will research further, but today 24.0219, I made unexpectedly quick progress. Maybe all that time spent on Ardupilot was worth it.
